Show OLDEST MAN IN GROVE CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY J. W. Halliday celebrated his 92nd birthday anniversary at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Adams of Salt Lake City, Monday. Mr. Halliday, the oldest resident in Timpanogos stake was born in Bristol,, England, April 21, 1850, and came to ' this country with his parents par-ents when three years of age. They settled in Salt Lake City, where Jos. M. grew to manhood and married Louisa Hawley nearly 70 years ago in the Endowment house. Later, with his wife and two small children, he moved to this community where he has since made his home. Mrs. Halliday died about three years ago. Mr. Halliday has always been active ac-tive in church and civic affairs, one of his hobbies being home beautification and gardening. The beautification committee states there would be no need for their work if everyone took the same pride in their home as he does. One year ago on his 91st birthday Mr. Halliday took a long airplane ride and is still vitally interested in current affairs, and spends much time visiting his children. His children chil-dren are Mrs. Pearl Wadley and Mrs. Merle Coombs of this city, William Vern and Joseph Halliday and Mrs. Vida Adamson of Salt Lake City. |
