Show Heavy Ditching Under Way At Steel Plant Progress is being rapidly made on preparations for foundation work at the site of the Geneva steel plant at Vineyard. ' Heavy ditching, miles of it, presumed pre-sumed to be for drainage purposes, is now being completed. Several ditchers and steam shovels are engaged en-gaged in this excavating work. The first of the new administration administra-tion buildings to be constructed is completed. This structure will house the business personnel of the three contracting companies doing the foundation work, building railroad spurs and pouring concrete. It is understood that upward of 1500 men will be engaged in primary pri-mary construction work by May 1. As progress is made the construction construc-tion payroll, coveirng skilled and unskilled labor, will reach the 7000 mark. The present fine weather stimulates this early preparatory work. Crews on the administration buildings are working 24 hours daily. A heavy battery of flood lights permits workmen to operate through the dark hours. |
