Show Lewis E. Ipin CJamed Second Counselor in Timp. SSalio Presidency Lewis D. Olpin, bishop of the Pleasant Grove First ward was sustained as a member of the Tim-panogos Tim-panogos stake presidency at the opening session of the quarterly conference here Sunday morning, June 29. He will replace Ray S. Merrill, released on account of ill health. The session began at 10 o'clock with President Vilace Radmall conducting. Business of presenting and sustaining officers was conducted con-ducted by Stake clerk E. Ray Brown. Speakers were Lewis E. Olpin, who in his quiet humble manner offered his best efforts to the new call which came to him in the stake presidency. Elder T. C. Stayner, told of welfare wel-fare work accomplished by the church in European countries, and Elder Thomas McKay, assistant to the Twelve related missionary experiences ex-periences and admonished the saints to live by the Gospel plaan. Special music was furnished by a ladies chorus, directed by Warren War-ren Kirk and accompanied by Jennie Gleason. At the closing session which was conducted by President Olpin, at 7:30, President Vilace Radmall talked on welfare work. Mrs. Marie Brown talked on the Daughters Daugh-ters of the Utah Pioneers meeting which was given at 2 o'clock and Mrs. Effie Adams, stake M. I. A. president, reported on June conference. confer-ence. Stake Primary president Louise C. Neilson reported on Primary Pri-mary June conference. Concluding speaker was Elder McKay, who among other tilings expressed the appreciation of European Eur-opean saints for the gospel and the welfare work. He also called from the audience Hennelore Newbury, granddaughter of a man who Mr. McKay knew as a .uisuiondi y ii. Germany in 1900. She spoke briefly brief-ly on the gratitude of the saints in Germany and the strong testimony of the gospel she has. Music for this session was furnished fur-nished by a ladles quartet, from Lindon ward, Mrs. Vie Ostergaard, Mrs. Alberta Walker, Mrs. Ella Smith and Mrs. Cleo Harward. They were accompanied by Mrs. Loraine Ruffell. Priesthood meeting was held at 2 p.m. where a male quartet furnished fur-nished special music. They were Warren Kirk, Earl A. Beck, E. R. West and Ford Paulson. Mothers and Daughters also held their session at 2 p.m. in the Second Sec-ond ward chapel, with Mrs. Fern Smith in charge. Welfare and Priesthood leadership leader-ship meetings wore held Saturday in the Scond ward chapel, at 6:30 and 8 p.m. respectively. |
