Show City Planning More adequate city planning and a general "face-lifting" program would be a very beneficial thing in Utah County, according to Everett Ev-erett B. Mansur, land and public services specialist for the nation-, al housing agency, who visited this area recently. Mr. Mansur declared that many cities throughout the county are adopting programs to improve their store fronts in their commercial commer-cial areas, and those who have finished fin-ished have found that their business bus-iness has increased. Tourists passing pas-sing through a city will invariably stop at a store with a nice front, rather than one with an old or dilapidated front, he said. ' Mr. Mansur said that Brigham Young and the Mormon pioneers achieved some excellent city planning, but he pointd out that most Utah cities have outgrown their original well-planned sites, and now must take on the burden of planning for themselves. Mr. Mansur was scheduled to meet with Utah county planning and zoning officials on various problems concerning land use and development, zoning regulations and subdivision control. He visited Provo on a tour of Utah communities commun-ities as part of a study of planning laws and organizations he is making. mak-ing. He was accompanied by Wendell Wen-dell Paulsen, locality expediter in this area for the national housing agency. |
