Show Unsafe Canning ISosnlls In EmmI Spoilage With canning season approaching, approach-ing, housewives should remember it is unsafe to can non-acid vegetables veg-etables and meats with any method meth-od except the pressure cooker. All vegetables except tomatoes are in this class. The danger of food spoilage and food poisoning are loo great if other methods are used. The pressure cooker gauge should be tested each canning season sea-son lielore using the cooker. Few gauges in Utah have been found to he accurate. Tests made each year on several hundred pressure cooker gauges in Utah show them registering 3 pounds or more from accurate reading. , There are women in all Utah Communities trained to test pressure pres-sure gauges. Presidents of the Relief Re-lief Societies can be contacted in regard to testing. If for any reason reas-on it is impossible to have the cooker gauge tested, run the cooker cook-er to 18 or 19 lbs pressure when 250 is needed and 13 or 14 pounds when 240 is called for.
