Show Surprise Alarm At Central School Brings Results Six of the members of the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove fire department led by Fire Chief Josiah Kemp paid a surprise visit to the Central school Thursday afternoon of last week. They quietly entered the school building and turned in the alarm without letting even Principal Ray Merrill know of their intention. Chief Kemp was gratified that in one minute and fifteen seconds the school house was cleared of children. chil-dren. Both teachers and pupils were calm and conducted their escape es-cape in orderly fashion. The firemen then inspected " the school's fire fighting equipment, and heating plant, and were pleased to find such adequate equipment and such satisfactory conditions in the boiler rooms. "Very commendable housekeeping and safety conditions" was IChief Kemp's report. Following the drill and inspection, inspec-tion, Mr. Kemp addressed the assembled as-sembled students and faculty on j the subject of fire prevention. o |
