Show VIKING VIEWS In The News Starting next week, school lunches will be served, at the grade school, and the old city hall to all students paying 2c daily, or bringing vegetables vege-tables or fruit. Fine menus are worked out and copies will be posted in the high school telling the contents con-tents of each daily lunch for two weeks ahead. The room in which the lunches are served is being re-decorated; new benches and tables will improve the appearance of the room, and the P.-T. A. have furnished the kitchen with new cooking utensils. June Pearl West Pleasant Grove high school teachers teach-ers will be put to work while the students enjoy Harvest Vacation, Monday and Tuesday. They will canvass the homes gathering the census. Along with the taking of the census and harvesting of beets, many students and teachers will participate in the deer hunt. Eava Richardsen Boys are already getting their dates for the big event, the Senior Hop, November 8. The theme will be "I Am An American," with military mili-tary decorations. All of the National Nation-al Guard boys will be there in full dress. The students expect this event to be the most outstanding activity of the year. They invite all the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Alumni to attend. Helen Robinson Problems for the betterment of school life were discussed in Home Room, October 15. Each student wrote their comments on how to improve the school. These comments com-ments were given to Principal Karl Banks, and he will select the most needed improvements and have the students put them into practice. Eava Ricnarasen GIRLS TENNIS Although Pleasant Grove high school's girls' tennis team was defeated de-feated Monday by Lehi's tennis team, they gained valuable experience exper-ience for later games. The following follow-ing girls participated in the meet. First Singles Jewel Paul-Vida Jones 6-06-1. ' Second Singles Leah Wadley-Ive-dell Southerland 6-26-2. Third Singles Virginia Ellis-Virginia Darton 6-1 6-2. First Doubles Virginia Ellis and Leah Wadley; Lois Shelley and Donna Don-na Hatfield 6-16-1. Second Doubles Helen Henrichsen and Helen Robinson 6-0 7-5. Helen Robinson YELL BOOKS Students were delighted when the new yell books for 1940-1941 were issued Wednesday, October 16. The cover of the yell book is blue, with a Viking head done in white. On the first page, under a picture of the high school, is the school song. The students' pledge,' student body officers, school spirit, and the purpose of the school activities occupy oc-cupy the next three pages. With the school yells there is a football and basketball schedule and a calendar j of activities. A feature of the books is the student directory. June West NEW BOOKS Two hundred and twenty-five new fiction books have been purchased by the Pleasant Grove high school for the benefit of the students. These books are to be put into use immediately. Eava Richardson Pleasant Grove high school welcomed wel-comed back two of their alumni students at a senior high assembly, Thursday, October 17.
