Show MAYORS IN FAVOR OF lHjiLDhNU liNSSl'ECXiUN At a joint meeting of the Mayors ol American r'orK, Lehi ,1'leasant Grove, and Orem held recently, it was decided by the Mayors in attendance at-tendance and also by the other representative re-presentative citizens from these communities, to go on record as favoring the adoption of the "Uniform "Uni-form Building Code" as adopted by the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference in October, 1927. They also favored the adoption of a uniform uni-form electrical code and plumbing code to appply throughout this area. It is felt that since the northern part of Utah County is feeling the impact of war industries indus-tries and since building activities are becoming rather pronounced, all possible measures must be taken to safeguard the health and the safety of residents both in rural and in incorporated areas. Extended discussion was had as to the qualificatoins of a building inspector and also as to the means of paying for the services of such a man. The most likei.y lan seemed to be the favoring of a small retianing fee payable by each community and then letting the building inspection and permit fees pay the major part of the salary of the inspector. It was also felt that the building inspection and permit fees should assist in the payment of expenses involved in the inspection of electrical wiring and plumbing work as well as in general construction work. Plan? were made for the formulation formul-ation of a rath'-r definite Tirwrrnm to submit to the various fit y councils coun-cils in the near future, because it vpc- CcU that any defuu'e action must bo subject fo tbe decisions of the city councils in the various comm mi' ies. |
