Show Victory Food Supply Program Issued Turning the .spotlight on the loud.s produced at home, federal agricultural agricul-tural leaders have launched a national na-tional victory home food supply campaign to be conducted 'from March 1 to 120, according to Miss Myrtle Davidson, assistant director of home economics for the Utah State Agricultiuirl college extension service. Governor Herbert B. Maw has pledged his support to the program in a special proclamation wherein lie requested the women of Utah to respond wholeheartedly to help produce and conserve the family food supply. Also he asked that they take such pains and precautions necessary to conserve, construct and care for the family wardrobe so that each member will be properly clothed as well as properly fed. I "The objectives o'f this call is for every rural family to produce about a ton a year of the right kinds of foods for every member of the family; fam-ily; to can 100 or more quarts of fruits and vegetables for every member, and to produce an ample supply of milk, chickens, eggs, meat and other home-grown foods f family use," continued the governor. gover-nor. "Modern war demands great armies of workers behind the lines great reservoirs of man power and woman power. In 'fact, this is one of our greatest national resources," Governor Maw declared. "This victory vic-tory call affords the rural women of Utah the opportunity to serve their conutry in its all-out drive to victory, and I urge' every rural woman to respond," he concluded. Miss Davidson stated that letters are being sent to all home-makers in the state explaining the year's food supply plan and containing pledge cards enlisting support in the Food for Freedom campaign. Home-makers are asked to fill in these pledge cards indicating the portion of their family food supply which they intend to produce in 1943, and return the cards to their local county agent. A certificate will be awarded to all those living up to their pledges. |
