To honor David Packard who left this week for military duty, about 30 members of the Second ward choir met after Mutual Tuesday Tues-day evening at the home o'f Mr. and Mrs. W. It. Halliday. The time was spent with music and social chat. Special guests were the ward bishopric and their wives. Dainty refreshments were served under the direction of Mrs. Halliday, Halli-day, choir president, and Glen R. Taylor, secretary o'f the organization. organiza-tion. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Adamson have returned from a three weeks trip to California. They went to San Francisco, down the coast to Los Angeles, visiting at points on the way. They visited with their daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Doro-thy Taylor at San Jose, with Mrs. Adamson's sister, Mrs. Alice Le-Cheminant Le-Cheminant at Glendale, and with Mr. and Mrs. James Mof-fett Mof-fett at Palo Alto. Mr. and Mrs. George Moss, who have been living in Salt Lake City for the past six years, have moved back to their home in the First ward. Be sure you see and hear the famous Latin American at the American Fork high, school early in April. Dr. James M. Moffett of Stanford Stan-ford University spent one day last week visiting here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Moffett. Mof-fett. Dr. Moffett and his colleague, col-league, Dr. Needham, were returning re-turning from a lecture tour at Denver. The two gentlemen are doing research work for the Bureau of Fisheries. Mrs. Moffett Mof-fett met the doctor here and visited with her mother, Mrs. Lillian Wilde and her sister Mrs. R. W. Cassell who was here from Boise, Idaho. Mrs. Wilbur Mawhinney was a guest at a luncheon at the New-house New-house Hotel in Salt Lake Thursday. Thurs-day. The luncheon was sponsored sponsor-ed by the Salt Lake District Federation Fed-eration of Women's clubs as a project to assist in furnishing the U. S. O. Center at Kearns. Dr. and Mrs. C. B. Merrihew and daughter Barbara Ann of Salt Lake City were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee on Sunday. Mrs. B. F. Moffett was hostess to two tables of bridge last Thursday. Those present were Mesdames Thomas A'. Barratt, L. E. Chipman, William Chipman, William Thornton, L. R. Pett, A. F. Gaisford, Byron Crookston and Joseph F. Walton. Mrs. Barrett Bar-rett and Mrs. Pett captured the prizes. A deliciousi luncheon was served by the hostess. Attending the funeral of Mrs. LaVerle Stewart in Magna on Tuesday were Mrs. Melissa Des-pain Des-pain of American Fork, Mr. and Mrs. B. H.1 Adams, Dawn Marie Adams, Mrs. W. D. West, and Mr. and Mrs. Ross West all of Pleasant Grove. In honor of her birthday, Mrs. J. V. Beck entertained at dinner Saturday evening. The table held a centerpiece of daffodils and Iris and covers were laid for 14. During the dinner hour Mrs. Beck was happily surprised by a long distance call from her son, Kenneth, who is in Kalispell, Mont. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gordon of Murray had their new baby blessed in the Third ward Sunday. The baby was given the name of Frank Hudson, for his two grandfathers, and blessed by an uncle, Howard Gordon. Mrs. Eldred Farnsworth and daughter, Barbara May, returned to their homein Magna Monday after visiting for a week with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Marsh of Alpine. Al-pine. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carroll and' family of Salt Lake City were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Bennett. American Fork high school will be host to Dona Lucia D'Alcadorez early in April. Be sure to plan on seeing and hearing her. Mrs. Wilford L. Breinholt of Ephraim spent several days last week visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Glen M. Boley, and family. Mrs. Millie Laursen has received word from her son, Tom Laursen, stationed somewhere hi the north Pacific that he has received his rating rat-ing and is now a radio man third class. |
