Show Sugar Beets Crop Helps Provide Meat In areas where sugar beets are grown, there is a very definite relationship between the production of sugar beets and the production of meat. The production of sugar and meat are essential as they are two of our most needed energy-producing energy-producing foods. Sugar beets contribute con-tribute more to the production ol meat than ' any other crop . grown in areas where, sugar beets are produced. To compare the calories produced in meat with other crops, we find that one acre of beets producing a 15 -ton crop will produce about 11,-204,145 11,-204,145 calories froh the byproducts which include molasses, pulp and beet tops. One acre of barley at 60 bushel per acre will produce about 8,983,500 calories. One acre of alfalfa hay producing three tons per acre will produce 1,255,400 calories. One acre of corn at 50 bushels per acre will produce 10,-348,700 10,-348,700 calories. Not only is It found that sugar beet byproducts lead the above crops in calories In meat per acre, but sugar from a 15-ton crop of beets has about 7,778,565 calories. This makes a total of 18,982,710 calories produced per acre on a 15-ton 15-ton crop of sugar bee'ts. One can see that a large acreage of sugar beets will do its part in helping to insure a large production of meat. |
