Show Ranger Stresses Need To Protect Country's Forests Victor N. Stokes, forest ranger, was the speaker at the Lions club luncheon held at the Second ward chapel Wednesday evening. He presented pre-sented a picture of the need of protecting pro-tecting forest growth for the sake of conserving water and saving forests. William IC. Smith, chairman of publicity for the club, reported that Ed Ball, who was recently presented pre-sented with a white red-tipped cane to denote his blindness, will be invited in-vited to beccme an honorary member mem-ber of the Lions club, with the privilege priv-ilege of participating in the activities activ-ities when he so desires. The local club joined other county service clubs in meeting with the county commissioners in behalf of the completion of the Alpine Loop highway. The commissioners gave a fav. rable report. According to Mr. Smith, September Septem-ber 27 has been set aside as the da.' for a special feature dancing party, to which the public will be invittd. |
