Show Utahns Are Invited To Provo For Biggest July 4 Celebration Utah's greatest Fourth of July Celebration will be held this year in Provo.. Four big days have been set aside for the big variety of entertainment. enter-tainment. On Sunday, June 30, the thrilling spectacular program of boat races will be held on Utah Lake near the mouth of Provo River. The finest and fastest boats in Utah are entered enter-ed in this event. Extensive preparations prepara-tions have been made for parking automobiles along the lake front and this race meet promises to be the most exciting ever held on Utah Lake. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, each afternoon at 2:00 P. M., horse races will be held at the Utah County Fair Grounds in Provo. Almost every state in the West is sending race horses to this meet. A total of seventy of the finest fin-est runners in the intermountain country will contest in Provo's big three day race meet. The first event on July Fourth is the Provo City Open Golf Tourna ment which begins at 8:00 A. M. One hundred and fifty dollars in cash prizes are offered in addition to many valuable merchandise prizes. At 10:00 A. M. the grand parade will move from Fifth North street along University Avenue. It includes twenty bands, scores of beautiful floats, winners of the Girls Beauty Contest, miniature steamliner passenger pass-enger and freight trains, a group of Southwest Taos Indian dancers, five Goddesses each on a deluxe float, and many military, governmental, civic, comedy units. A children's program wDl be given at Pioneer Park from 4:00 to 6:00 P. M. Many valuable gifts and prizes will be given to the youngsters free of charge. Provo's biggest celebration will end with the Stadium Show at the B. Y. U. Stadium. A brand new Chevrolet automobile, plus $100.00 in cash prizes will be given awray free. This program features circus acts, Indian dancers and spectacular fireworks pageant. |
