Show Program Promotes Appreciation Of Rural Life Opportunities Rural Life Sunday was appropriately appropri-ately observed in Manila ward June 23, under the direction of Bishop H. V. Swenson and Mrs. Lurena E. Warnick. The program was presented as follows: Invocation, George Gour-ley; Gour-ley; Mrs. Ruth Swenson and Mrs. Maurine Allen, accompanied by Mrs. Effie Adams, sang the national 4-H club song, "Dreaming". Mrs. Lurena Warnick, the Manila i 4-H club supervisor then explained the origin and purpose of Rural Life Sunday, which she said had been observed ob-served in Utah since 1937, following a visit by J. R. Hargreaves of the International Council of Religious Education. It is also observed in many other states as a means of promoting deeper appreciation of rural environment on the part of 4-H 4-H members and their families. Donna Eves, who won a free trip to Chicago in a food's preparation contest sponsored by the Electrolux company, told interesting highlights of her trip. . The 4-H pledge was given by sec- ond year food club members, directed direct-ed by Irene Warnick. Charles Warnick, a former 4-H club member of Manila, told of his connection with the 4-H club movement move-ment as assistant county agent at Box Elder. Mrs. Swenson and Mrs. Allen sang another duet, "The Field Song", after which Clarence D. Ashton, assistant as-sistant Utah county agent, introduced introduc-ed Mrs. Yvonne Jones Perry, president presi-dent of the 4-H leaders in Utah county, who outlined the summer's club activities. The benediction was pronounced by Lee Warnick, 4-H members. n |
