Show Community Answers Call For Red Cross War Relief; Drive For Funds Continues Thomas A. Walker, chairman of the Red Cross in Pleasant Grove district, reports that the war relief drive which has been conducted during the past two weeks under the direction of Ray Merrill, relief chairman, assisted by George Larson, Lar-son, Frank Nelson, and Harold Wright, is nearly completed. The first quota was reached on the appointed day, but the further tragic war happenings in Europe made it necessary to double the national relief fund to care for the destitute and suffering refugees. Hence, Utah county's quota of the fund was raised from $2000 to $4000, and the Pleasant Grove quota was doubled. So the drive must continue until the second quota is reached, but from the fine response given thus far, there is little doubt that the larger amount will be contributed readily. |
