B. degree. ; In the fall of 1914, Mr. Adamson ! was appointed principal of the Mon-roe Mon-roe School of the Granite School ; District. After two years as princi-1 princi-1 pal, Mr. Adamson became head of 'the department of history of ,the . Granite High School. In 1920 he ! was made head of the department of I history and debate coach at West j High School, Salt Lake City, i Since 1921, Mr. Adamson has been I. manager of the Bureau of Lectures, I University of Utah. Mrs. Adamson Adam-son prepared the sketch herself and the person whose achievements she chose to write of is her cousin, James McLeod Adamson. The sketch follows: fol-lows: James McLeod Adamson, native I son of American Fork, who has won 1 recognition for himself in the lead- ing educational and business circles ! of Utah, is the person whose life I ! shall briefly review. Mr. Adamson was born in American Ameri-can Fork the 23rd day of October, 1 18 t. He was the second son of Andrew An-drew and Margaret McLeod Adamson, Adam-son, well known residents cf this oommunity. i Andrew Adamson served as counly 'surveyor cf Utah County for eight j years, and was prominent in engineering engi-neering circles throughout the state. ! After graduating from the public i schools of American Fork, in 1903, j James entered the University of 1 Utah preparatory school. He was graduated from the Normal School of the University of Utah in 1907. Mr. Adamson continued his studies in the University of Utah the following fol-lowing year. His uni ity work takes him to all parts cf lie state. For example, in Spanis:.. Mr, Adamson organizes these community lectures in the state. Mr. Adamscn, in addition to his scholastic positions, has held many responsible pocitions in the business busi-ness world. In 1918 he was made superintendent of Saltair Be?ch Company, and in 1913 vva-o prcractc.I ,to general manager agent and advertising ad-vertising manager of the Sa:t Lake, j Garfield and Western Railroad. In ' connection with his school work, he 1 : held this position until 1932. A large group of interested friends I in Salt Lake City's southeast section sec-tion is now. sponsoring Mr. Adam-son's Adam-son's candidacy for membership on the Salt Lake City Board of Education. Educa-tion. In 1914, Mr. Adamson married Myrtle Brain, then a prominent teacher in the Salt Lake City public schools. They have a daughter Myrtle Myr-tle attending the University of Utah and a son James attending the East High School, Salt Lake City. Mr. Adamson is known to his many friends as a man of unquestionable unques-tionable moral character, a courageous courage-ous thinker, a tireless worker, and as one of the state's outstanding citizens. |
