Show o 325 Farmers and Business Busi-ness Men Make Sugar Beet Tour Thursday Approximately 325 farmers .and business men of Utah county made the second annual sugar beet tour of the county Thursday, September 5th. The complete schedule of stops were made as outlined, and the principal topics considered during the trip were: Crop Rotation, Fertilization and Weed Control. During the big chicken dinner at Vineyard, short speeches were made by J. W. Gillman, chairman of the Utah County Commission; Mark Austin, Aus-tin, field superintendent of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho Sugar Co.; Eli J. Clayson, president pres-ident of the Utah County Farm Bureau; Dr. Thomas Martin of the B. Y. U. faculty; a representative of the Salt Lake & Utah Railroad Co.; D. P. Thomas and Henry A. Gardner, bankers; W. J. Thayne, County Agricultural Agri-cultural agent; C L. Warnick, manager man-ager of the Utah County Fair. Mr. Clayson of the County Farm Bureau reports that it was an inspiration inspira-tion to see some patches of sugar beets and onions of five and six acres In a patch, where not a single weed was evident. The American Fork Farm Bureau was well represented on the tour, there being 29 who made the trip. o |
