Show Central Baseball League Formed Officers Elected I A spirited baseball meeting was 'held Tuesday evening at the Thornton Thorn-ton Hall with representatives from seven cities in attendance. The Utah Central baseball league will be revived re-vived with Pleasant Grove, Orem, American Fork, Lehi, Heber and Payson as the clubs represented. Dividend was represented but could play only on Sunday and thus had to be eliminated. The men representing the teams from the different cities were: Heber Heb-er C. L. Watkins, William L. Anderson, An-derson, Alfred Sharp, Russell Keetch jand Joseph Olpin. Lehi Jay Whitman Whit-man and Ralph A. Goodwin, Fay-son Fay-son Wm. Spainhower and Byron Montague. American Fork Dr. Homer. Pleasant Grove L. Christiansen. Chris-tiansen. Provo Harry Meredith, O. W. Poulson. Dividend C. A. Schempp and William Berquist. Orem Thomas Jacobbs, Clifton Pyne, Ray Gillman, Charles Folton and Ertman Christensen. The following officers were selected select-ed for the organization: Dr. Homer, Hom-er, president, Russell Keetch, vice-president, vice-president, and Dr. C. O. Jensen of Pleasant Grove as secretary. The first game of the league will be played play-ed Wednesday, May 24th, and it is hoped that thereafter a game will be played every Wednesday as this is the day that most of the cities of the state have a half holiday. Pleasant Grove is ready for this league, the high school campus has recently come in for a very fine cleanup job. The ground was scraped scrap-ed and leveled by citizens and interested in-terested ball fans, the school boys picked off all rocks, and the final finish was put on the ground with a heavy roller. Much credit is due J. L. Theobald Theo-bald for his willing service and means i to back the team last year and to-'date to-'date this year. He has been interested inter-ested in every improvement that has been made. A new sprinkling system has been installed back of the pitchers plate to take care of the infieid; new home plate, pitchers plate, and equipment such as bases, bats, balls, etc. A new score board was installed, by the A.; K. Thornton Co., and will be ready for use for the first game of the 1933 season which was played yesterday. . Dr. C. O. Jenson has been chosen manager of the local team with Tim Richards and Lee Christiansen as captains and managers of men on the field. |
