Show Mrs. Mark Nichols of Riverton, spent last week-end visiting her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Olsen- i F.-iends of Bishop James H. j Swits will regret to hear that he is confined to his home this week with j illness. Mr. and Mrs. Alma J. Olsen and daughter Lydia spent Friday in Salt Lake visiting with Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Batchelor- Miss Olsen remained to spend the week-end with her sister, Mrs. Batchelor. Am. Fork Locals Mrs. E. Iverson of Salt Lake is spending two weeks here with her daughter, Mrs. Merlin Holmstead. Mrs. John W. Myers 6pent last week in Sundy with her daughter, Mrs. Golden S. Baxter and family. Owen Dean Jr. had the misfortune to fall last Friday and break an arm. The injured member is healing nicely. nice-ly. Mrs. Eleanor West, Mr. and Mrs. Junius West and family of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Myron West of Brig-ham Brig-ham City; Miss Nina Halliday, Murray Mur-ray and LeGrande Mathias of Price; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Jeppson of Cedar City, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Halliday Sunday. The special occasion was the birthday of Mrs. Halliday's mother, Mrs. West. i Mrs. Lloyd Adamson will entertain enter-tain the members of the Sorosis Club this afternoon at her home. The time will be spent in making flower bouquets bou-quets under the direction of Mrs. Walter Devey Sr. The Merry Makers club met at the home of Mrs. Grace Coates Friday afternoon, October 26th. The afternoon after-noon was spent in games after which a dainty lunch was served. There were seven club members present. Invited guests were Mrs. Sadie Bromley, Miss May Greenwood and Mrs. Ivy Steele. The members of the H. B. Club entertained their husbands Thursday Thurs-day night of last week at a Hallowe'en Hallo-we'en party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Adams. The rooms were prettily decorated in Hallowe'en style. Various games were played followed by a delicious lunch. There were sixteen present. Dr. Harry Fletcher of New York City visited here for a few days with his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Chipman- Dr. Fletcher was enroute to San Diego, where arrangements ar-rangements are being made for an exposition in which startling inventions inven-tions of an electrical nature will be demonstrated. On Thursday night, October 25th, eight friends of Mr. and Mrs- Vern Walker pleasantly surprised her at her home, the occasion being her birthday. Progressive "500" was the main diversion following which a delicious lunch was served. Those arranging the affair were Messrs. and Mesdames Ray Ellison, Frank Humphriees, Elwyn Wride and A-W. A-W. Clyde. One of the many Hallowe'en parties part-ies held throughout the city during the week which have afforded the young people a great deal of pleasure, pleas-ure, was that given Wednesday night for fourteen friends of the Missses Maxine and La Vern Boley by their mother, Mrs. Vern Boley. The house was gaily decorated for the occasion and the games were in harmony with the season. A tasty lunch completed the party, to which the young guests came costumed. A bridge luncheon was given Thursday afternoon last by Mrs-Kenneth Mrs-Kenneth Noyes in compliment to Mrs. Allen Fjeld of Lehi, her sister-in-law, who recently was married. A dainty luncheon was served at the small tables, following which bridge was played during the remainder re-mainder of the afternoon. The high score prize was won by Mrs- A. W. Davis of Lehi. Following were the guests: Mesdames Alan Fjeld, D. ' R. Mitchell, I. M. Davis, W- L. Worl-ton, Worl-ton, A. W. Davis, C. J. McKellar, Francis Goates, R- B. Worlton, Azer Southwick, Herbert Austin, M. S. Lott, and Andrew Fjeld of Lehi; Mrs- James S. Chadwick, American Fork; and Mrs. Fred Carter, Los Angeles. Mr- and Mrs. FJdon Nelson of Dividend spent last week-end visiting visit-ing with Mr. Nelson's father and sister, Niels Nelson and Miss Sadie Nelson. Mrs. Oliver Jeffs, Sr., was operated operat-ed upon Tuesday in the L. D- S. hospital, hos-pital, Salt Lake, for goitre, and according ac-cording to all reports is doing as well as can be expected. This is the second operation performed upon her within the past few months. Friends of Mrs. Merlin Holmstead will be glad to learn that she is home again having been operated upon about three weeks ago in Salt Lake, and is making a satisfactory recovery. Mrs. I. L. Pratt was given a real surprise last Saturday night. She and her husband, I- L. Pratt, who was in on the secret, motored to Salt Lake and: attended to some business matters and finally called at the home of friends Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Angel, where fifty friends, members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veteran Firemen's Association of Salt Lake and their husbands were waiting her to extend birthday felicitations. A merry time was had in games and music and a delicious de-licious supper was served. . - |
