Show County Chairman Says Democrats Are Favored With the Democratic political ma- chine gaining momentum daily, present pres-ent indications point to -a sweeping victory for the Democratic party on election day, in the opinion of Dr. Hugh M. Woodward, Democratic campaign chairman for Utah county, who is also a candidate for state senator. The results of straw votes which have been taken in various cities throughout the county are favorable to the Democrats, according to Dr. Woodward, who states that the straw votes indicate a heavy majority majori-ty for the Democratic candidates, even in those cities which have Deen known as Republican strongholds in the past. Praising the Utah county Democratic Demo-cratic candidates from the standpoints stand-points of ability, training and character, char-acter, party officials state that never before has such a favorable ticket been placed before the citizens of Utah county under the Democratic emblem. Democratic forces were concen- trated in the northern section of the county during the fore part of this week, with big rallies held at American Fork and Lehi Tuesday evening with Senator William H. King as principal speaker; and at Pleasant Grove on Wednesday evening, eve-ning, with Senator Elbert D. Thomas delivering the key speech. Candidates from the northern end of the county who are running for state and county offices include L. M. Atwood, Pleasant Grove, candi- date for county assessor, nyrum Anderson, An-derson, Lehi, for state legislature, Booth Sorenson, Lehi, for county auditor, and Clarence "Tabby" Grant, American Fork, candidate for county clerk, whose clerical ability in as well known as his ability to en tertain as a partner in the popular team of "Tab" and "Bun". |
