Show Legion Anniversary Anniver-sary Social Big Success! The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary held their 18th birthday banquet Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at 8 p. m. at Bromley's. Brom-ley's. There were . twenty couples' present with Mrs. Sarah Monson and Phillip Green as joint toast-masters. toast-masters. . After the banquet . the members adjourned to the Legion hall where the following program was given: The American Legion ritual was followed fol-lowed out. A song, composed by Haydee Iverson in tribute to the American Legion was sung by a chorus of auxiliary members. The U. S. Forest Sendee sent to each unit a yellow birch plaque, made by the C C C boys. It was taken from Nicolete National forest, which was dedicated by the American Legion Auxiliary of Wisconsin as the Ar-gonne Ar-gonne Memorial Forest in Wisconsin. Wiscon-sin. This plaque was presented to the American Legion by the unit president, Mrs. Ethel Graff. A birthday cake made by our baker, Fred Cheever, was also presented. First Vice Commander Sidney Beck accepted the plaque and the cake in behalf of the American Legion. Le-gion. A duet, sung by Mrs. Sarah Monson and Lexia Monson, accompanied accom-panied by Florence Chipman, closed the program. Dancing followed the program. Cake and coffee were served during dur-ing the dance. Phillip Green and Edward Moss were the sponsors for the party. In behalf of the American Legion Le-gion and the Auxiliary, we want to thank Mr. Scott Leavitt and the U. S. Forest Service and all those who made these plaques possible, said Vice Commander Sydney Beck. The public is invited to see the plaque at the American Legion Me--morial hall. o |
