Show Mrs. Raymond Kirkham attended the reunion of the North Central states mission in Salt Lake Saturday evening. She was the guest of Mrs. Fern Bodell while in the City. Mrs. Kirkham met a number of Minneapolis Minne-apolis friends while at the reunion. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Chadwick, 'Mr. and Mrs. James Spratley entertained enter-tained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Stewart Wednesday night, the occasion being the birthday birth-day of Mrs. Stewart. Games and social chat were enjoyed along with a delicious lunch. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gowers and Mrs. Alfred Chadwick attended the fun- Leon Ivie of Montpelier, Idaho, spent last week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ashby and family, also attending conference in Salt Lake. Mrs. Martha Chipman has returned return-ed to her home here after spending the winter in Salt Lake with her daughter, Mrs. Fern Bodell and family. fam-ily. Mrs. Hannah Rhodes has returned to her home in American Fork after having spent the past winter in Eureka Eu-reka with her daughter, Mrs. C. E. Rife. Earl and Lenard Hacking of Price, visited in American Fork Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hind-ley Hind-ley Jr. Mrs. Emma Foster and son, Forbes, attended the French mission reunion held at the Hyrum Jensen home on Highland Drive Saturday night. Mr. Foster filled a mission in France. Mrs. Jesse Spafford entertained at Am. Fork Locals Mrs. Kenneth Foster and son of Coppcrfield are here visiting this week with Mrs. Emma Foster. Jack Jacklin, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jacklin had his tonsils removed Tuesday and is do-' ing nicely. Misses Arvilla Devey, Emma Green and Melba Barratt were among those j -who attended conference in Salt 1 Lake Sunday. Miss Melba Barratt, nurse at the local hospital, with Miss Rhoda Larson, Lar-son, Lehl nurse, spent last Friday evening in Salt Lake visiting at tbe X,. S. S. hospital. The Primary officers and teachers of the Second ward will meet tonight (Friday) at the home of Mrs. John Myers, and hold a business and preparation pre-paration meeting. Mrs. Ewell, was a sister of Mrs. Clyde and an aunt of Mrs. Gowers and Mrs. Chadwick. Mrs. Kenneth Brown was hostess last Thursday afternoon to the members of the Variety Club at her home. Bridge was played at four tables, the prizes being won by Mrs. Ray Shelley and Mrs. Frank Brown. Late' in the afternoon after-noon a delicious lunch was served, Easter motifs being used in the decorative dec-orative scheme. The special gtuests present were Mesdames Milton Adams, Owen .Humphries, Harvel Bennett, Kenneth Singleton, Leroy Mecham and Frank Brown. dinner Sunday evening the occasion being the sixth birthday of her son, Willis. Covers were laid for twelve guests. A birthday cake and Easter motifs decorated the table. Bishop and Mrs. Hugh Wright of Rexburg, Idaho, visited relatives here for a few days. Mr. Wright returned home Monday and his wife remained to visit Provo relatives rela-tives for a few weeks. They came to attend conference in Salt Lake. Miss Ferrol Elton of Dividend is spending an indefinite visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Nelson. Mrs. Emma Foster spent last week-end in the capitol city attending attend-ing conference and visiting with her sisters and other relatives. Mrs. Delbert iChipman has been confined to her home for the past several days with an attack of ton-silitis. ton-silitis. She is feeling much better now. Mrs. Rose Grant returned home Sunday evening after spending the past week in Salt Lake with her daughter, Mrs. H. V. Webb and attending at-tending conference. Thursday in Salt Lake Mrs. I. L. Pratt entertained the ladies of the Veteran Volunteer Firemen of Salt Lake at the home of Mrs. Solomon Angel. The ladies spent the day in quilting and were served a delicious dinner by Mrs. Pratt. Mrs. Hannah Rhodes has returned home after spending the past winter win-ter in Eureka with Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Rife and family. The Rifes brought her to American Fork last Friday and remained for the weekend. week-end. Jesse and Clarice McBride, who have been visiting in Los Angeles with relatives, stopped in American Fork for a day last week-end enroute to their home in Burley, Idaho. They visited Mrs. Mary J. Cunningham and family while here. Friends here will be pleased to learn that Howard Mendenhall, who formerly was employed in the local Penney store, has been transferred to Provo and began his work in that store last Saturday. Mr. Mendenhall Men-denhall was transferred from the American Fork store to the one at Richfield last spring. A number of girl friends pleasantly pleas-antly surprised Miss MaxineBriggs at her home Saturday night, the occasion being in honor of her birthday anniversary. Games were enjoyed and at mid-night a dainty lunch was served at small tables. The girls presented' Miss Briggs with a lovely birthday gift. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Jensen and Mrs. Laura Steele, who came from Salt Lake to attend the funeral services of Joseph Armstrong Tuesday, Tues-day, were dinner guests afterwards of Mrs. Thos. Coddington. The Lawata Club was entertained last Friday afternoon by Mrs. Vern Chipman. Three tables of bridge were in progress, the prizes being "won by Mrs. Ida Devey and Mrs. "Verla Coddington. Special guests in attendance were Mrs. Ethel Mecham Me-cham and Miss Lucile Wadley. A tasty Junch was served at the small tables. Next Tuesday evening the adult and senior classes of the First ward M. I. A. will meet together for one period and enjoy talks on Japan given by Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Robertson Rob-ertson of Springville, who were in that country on a mission. They "will also display souvenirs of that country and its people which they brought back with them. Mr. Robertson Rob-ertson is president of the Kolob stake. All members of the classes are invited to be present. The Post Office is undergoing a thorough spring housecleaning this week which is materially adding; to the inviting interior of the building. build-ing. The back room used for sorting sort-ing of mail etc., has been cleaned of its winter accumulation of grime and smoke and the office proper is being newly papered and painted. All in all the building is being dressed in its best bib and tucker. Sunday Mrs. Donald H. Stubbs and three sons of Provo visited in American Fork with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Hansen. Little Miss Mary Holmstead celebrated cele-brated her eighth birthday Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon by having 25 friends as guests at a party. The little folks enjoyed themselves in playing games after which a tasty lunch was served by the hostess's mother, Mrs. Earl Holmstead. Samuel Grant met with a painful pain-ful accident Thursday afternoon of last week while hanging a light fixture fix-ture in the postoffice. Mr. Grant was on top of a step ladder which collapsed and precipitated him to the floor. He fell upon his left wrist and broke both bones at the wrist. He was immediately taken to the hospital by Dr. G. S. Richards Rich-ards where an x-ray picture was taken and the bones were set. The arm has been quite painful since but is doing as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Barratt, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barrett, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Barratt and Miss Melba Barratt surprised Arvel Morgan at his home in Provo Tuesday night, the occasion being his . birthday. Games were played, Mrs. Stanley "Kairatt winning the prize. C. E. Rife, co-publisher of the Eureka Eu-reka Reporter at Eureka, Utah, was a visitor at the office of the Alpine Publishing Co. coming on Saturday of last week. He states that conditions condi-tions in that famous mining camp are pretty much in the same depressed depress-ed condition as they are here and that about the only thing that will bring the camp back to prosperity is the advance in the price of white metal. Mrs. Ernest Hindley Jr. entertained entertain-ed at dinner Wednesday evening in compliment to her brother, Ernell Cook, of Cedar Fort, who recently has returned from a mission. The prizes were won by Mrs. Bernice Adams and Mrs. Fay Clarke. A dainty dain-ty lunch completed the afternoon's entertainment. The Americans,, American Forks popular musical organization, is going go-ing to Eureka tomorrow evening to play for a dancing party at the Elks' Pavilion. Americans were in that city last week and furnished music mu-sic for the Junior Prom, ,and due to a popular demand for more of this class of music the management of the pavilion induced them to come again. It is understood that several individuals from this city will accompany the orchestra in this trip and in addition to attending the dance will visit friends in that city. Miss Genevieve Crystal of this City met with an accident Sunday afternoon in Provo when the car in which she was riding with O. E. Price turned over at First West and Third South streets in Provo. Miss Crystal's injuries consisted mainly of a broken nose and jaw and severe se-vere bruises. Her companion received re-ceived minor cute and bruise. the office of Sheriff E. G. Mrs. James Chipman entertained sixteen friends at a bridge luncheon lunch-eon Tuesday afternoon. The out of town guests were Mrs. Ray Rose-braugh Rose-braugh and Mrs. Henry Miller of Salt Lake; Mrs. Preston Peterson, Mrs. Ed. Firmage, Mrs. Hattie Mar-field Mar-field and Mrs. Venice Scofield of Provo; Mrs. W. S. Chipman, Mrs William Chipman, Mrs. Lenard Chipman, Mrs. Lee Halstrom, Mrs Thomas Barratt, Mrs. Benjamin Moffett, Mrs. Byron Crookston Mrs William Thornton, Mrs. J. p.
