Show EXTRA GOOD MILEAGE SECURED ON' FORD TEST In an economy test run, held recently re-cently at Bartlesville, Okla., a new Ford V-8 Tudor Sedan set up the remarkable record of an average of 18.8 miles per gallon of fuel for 10,054.9 miles. The run was sponsored spon-sored by the Bartlesville Daily Enterprise. En-terprise. F-acked into the run were more ; miles than the average driver covers cov-ers in a year's time. The run was made under all kinds of weather conditions including heavy rain and strong winds. Temperatures reached reach-ed as high as ninety-four degrees. Operating at a speed of fifty miles or more per hour over good and bad roads, up and down hills, through rain, fog and mud, it averaged 18.8 miles per gallon, using Phillips sixty-six sixty-six oil and gasoline for the entire trip. No oil was added between 1000-mile 1000-mile changes and not one cent expended ex-pended for repairs. In view of the hot weather and gruelling pace set, a remarkable feature fea-ture was that no water was added to the radiator during the entire trip. All points on the itinerary were reached on scheduled time. For ten days and nights the car was on the road. The route included the cities of Tulsa, Guthrie, Oakla-homa Oakla-homa City, El Reno, Enid, Por.ca City and other points, and was so arranged that the car was kept on the road 23 hours out of every 24, coming into Bartlesville at the end of each thousand miles, for lubrication lubrica-tion and oil change. o |
