Show Work on Deer Creek Expected to Begin In March John C. Page, commissioner of reclamation, stated Saturday night, before leaving Salt Lake City on his return to Washington, D. C, that actual construction on the Deer Creek reclamation project should start by the end of March. According to the commissioner, advertisement ad-vertisement for bids on the project will be made next week. Approximately Approxi-mately a month later the bids will be opened, in another three weeks the contracts will be awarded and a month later work will be required to start. - Mr. Page said, "We were gratified grati-fied to learn of the support for the Deer Creek project in Utah, especially espe-cially of the large majority with which the proposal carried in Salt, Lake City." At the present time 92,710 shares have been subscribed of 100,000 shares of the Provo River Water Users' association, with prospect of an over subscription from communities commun-ities and groups which have not yet formally subscribed. During his visit here Saturday Mr. Page conferred with E. O. Larson, district engineer, and J. R. Alexander, Alex-ander, district counsel on reclamation reclama-tion work. Of the seven million dollars the entire project is expected to cost, $1,750,000 is now available for the actual construction of the Deter Creek dam, relaying Provo canyon railroad track and the building of needed new highways. |
