Show Community Support Asked For By Incoming Mayor Never has the need of peace and good will been more evident than this Christmas season. Certainly the wars and rumors of wars which occupy so much of the news have little to do with the true spirit of Christmas. The conflict between the faith we express on Christmas and much of our behavior the rest of the year is sharp enough. So many of us have one set of rules which we think as individuals we should observe and quite a different code in our government and public actions. Right now we feel kindly toward our fellowmen. We want to give presents and see happy children. We like to do good and feel good. If generosity is better for us as individuals than envy and malice, we shall find it profitable for the proudest and strongest governments. So let us be truly thankful for the peace and happiness prevailing in this goodly land and make resolution resolu-tion to better live and serve Him in our homes, community and church at this joyous Christmas time. The officials of the new city government gov-ernment wish you an the Season's Kindest Greetings and ask for full cooperation for a cleaner and better city. S. A. Kirk, Mayor-Elect |
