Show Local Items 1 Mr. and Mrs. Mark Nicholes of Rivert'n visited here Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Olssn. Mpj. Maude Thornton returned to her home S'unday, - following a ten days visit in Lyman, Wyoming. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee and family, Lester Les-ter Kinney, Mrs. E. C. Merrihew, all of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Ray D. Nicholes of Logan is here visiting relatives and friends here and in Provo during the holiday holi-day season. Students attending the three universities uni-versities of the state are home with their families during he Christmas rececs which runs from December 17th until January 4th. Week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McNiel were Mrs. McNiel's mother and sister, Mrs. J. E. Pettit and Mrs. Myrtle Perry and son, Billie, of Price. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Wagstaf f are the proud parents of a baby boy, born December 14th. The Third ward Primary children chil-dren enjoyed a Christmas party in their ward chapel. A clever program pro-gram was featured, followed by a Christmas treat from the officers . and teachers. The H. B. ladies entertained their husbands at a delightful Christmas party last Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Briggs. The entertaining rooms were in keeping with this holiday season and a lighted and decorated Christmas tree held gifts for all. The evening was spent playing Monte Carlo Whist, after which a tasty lunch was served. Elder LaVon Earl returned from a two and one-half years mission in Germany Saturday night. He was met at the docks in New York by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Earl, and Miss Ruth Hansen of Ephraim, who also went East to meet a missionary friend. Besides the Earl family eight others were in the party returning home in two new Dodge cars. The group visited New York, Washington,' D. C, and Detroit. In New York they were taken on a sight seeing tour by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Clitheroe, Mrs. Clitheroe is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Elsmore of this city. LaVon reports having enjoyed his labors 'and travels very much. The annual Santa Claus treat sponsored by the local firemen's organization or-ganization will be ready for the children at 3:00 p. m. Friday afternoon, af-ternoon, it was announced today by Chief TTatt. Santa will be at the fire station with his bag full to the hrim with goodies and surprises . for 'the anxious youngsters. The treat, as in years past, is , for 'the "children up to and includ-. includ-. ing 'the sixth grade students. Mr, ! Pratt and the firemen ask the co-1 co-1 operation of the parents and older children in the distribution of the treat so that none will be missed i and that all plans will go forward in "an orderly manner. I "Mrs. Warren Boley entertained members of the Sorosis club and two' special guests at her home Monday Mon-day -evening. The entertaining rooms were artistically decorated 'with Christmas colors, the main attraction attrac-tion being a Christmas tree in one corner of the room, which held gifts for all club members. Bridge was the main diversion, -with Mrs. Clara Xarsen- winning high score prize and "Mrs. Mue Greenwood, second. Those present were Mesdames John K. TSliller, 'T. A. Allen, Frank Gaisford, Mrs. Lillie Wikie, Mrs. Elizabeth Coddington, Mrs. C. T. .'Jones, Mrs. Clara ILarsen and Mrs. Agnes Adamson. In the Fourth ward chapel Tuesday Tues-day afternoon, the Primary kiddies were entertained at a delightful Christmas party. A clever program was followed by the visit from Santa Claus and the unloading of gifts from his bag. , . Mrs. Alta Chipman was hostess to members of the H. B. club and several special guests at her home Saturday afternoon. The time was spent playing bridge, with Mrs. Edith Brown winning high score club prize and Mrs. Elden Chip-man, Chip-man, high score guest prize. Late in the afternoon a delicious lunch was served. Special guests were Mesdames Mark Coddington, Glen Sykes, Alton Storrs, Ralph Ellison, Kenneth Noyes, Benard Storrs, David Da-vid Taylor, Stanford Wilde and El-don El-don Chipman. Mr. and Mrs. Neldon Birk and family of Nelson, Nevada, arrived here Monday to spend the Christmas holidays with relatives. Roland Sabey of McGill, Nevada, plans to arrive here today (Friday) to spend Christmas day with his wife a nd family, who are staying at the home of Mrs. Sabey's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Moral D. Steele. Mr. and Mrs. Moral Steele Jr. spent Monday in Salt Lake City, combining business and pleasure Mr. Vern Beck returned to his home Sunday following a major operation op-eration at the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Lillian Brown left Wednesday Wednes-day morning by way of the Union Pacific railroad for Los Angeles, ''California, for an indefinite stay. Mrs. John B. Smith and son.Keith, of 'Ogden, spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. Smith's mother, Mrs. Lillian Brown. The Second ward Primary entertained enter-tained for all their little members at a Christmas party Tuesday afternoon after-noon in their ward chapeL An interesting in-teresting program and dance was enjoyed, .after which a Christmas treat was presented to them. A 'large crowd was present, all of them reporting a jolly time. "Mrs. Lucy Bush entertained the B.'B. ladies at her home last Thursday Thurs-day afternoon. Various games were enjoyed with Mrs. Nell Moffett and Mrs. Cora Chadwick capturing the prizes. The main attraction of the room was a beautiful tree in one corner. Christmas gifts were exchanged ex-changed by members of the club after which a tasty lunch was served. Special guests were Mrs. A. F. Gaisford Gais-ford and Mrs. Milton Adams. Mrs.. Mehin Grant, Miss Lillie Shatter and Mrs. Edith Brown were hostesses to tthe members of the Variety club and their partners at ; a cleverly arranged Christmas party Monday evening of this week. A Christmas dinner was served at 3 o'clock, followed by Monte Carlo. , Whist. "The dinner table was attractively at-tractively -decorated in keeping with the holiday season. Mrs. Lyle Grant and Wilson Cunningham were the successful prize winners of the evening. eve-ning. Santa Claus surprised the group by his appearance and the distribution distri-bution of gifts to those present, as follows: Messrs. and Mesdames Frank Brown, Dave Cahn, C. A. Grant, Owen Humphries, Rulon Nicholes, Samuel Grant, Kenneth Singleton, Wilson Cunningham, Melvin Mel-vin Grant, Afton Steiner, Adair Bromley, Miss Lillie Shatter and Mrs. Lyle Grant of this city, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Peterson of Lehi and Mr. and Mrs. George Moss of Salt Lake City.
