Show Former Resident Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack Lorenzo James Durrant, 57, prominent promi-nent banker of Provo and Utah Co., died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Donna D. Sorenson in Salt Lake City Sunday morning after an illness ill-ness of five weeks of heart trouble. The deceased was born October 4, 1875, in American Pork, being a son of John and Elizabeth J. Durrant, well known residents of this city. Mr. Durrant grew to young manhood here, attending the public schools, and later engaged in the creamery business. He married Miss Agnes Lewis of Spanish Fork June 19, 1900, and three weeks later left for a mission mis-sion to Great Britian.' Upon returning return-ing he worked for a creamery concern con-cern in Salt Lake for several years and then in Idaho, where he established estab-lished a creamery of his own. In 1915 the family moved to Provo where they have since resided. Mr. Durrant was an active member of the L. D. S. church and a prominent leader in civic affairs. He was president presi-dent of the First National Bank of Spanish Fork, vice-president of the Commercial Bank of Spanish Fork, and managing director of the Provo Farmers and Merchants Bank. Surviving are his widow, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Sorenson, Salt Lake; J. Russell, Dorothy and William Stanford Durrant,' all of Provo; one brother and three sisters: Joseph Durrant and Mrs. George E. May of Salt Lake; Mrs. John W. Wright of Sterling, Idaho; and Mrs. Rulon Ostler of Provo. A son died six monthh ago. His mother, Mrs. Elizabeth J. Durrant Dur-rant passed away a year ago. Funeral services were held Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Provo Fourth ward chapel. Interment was made in the Spanish Fork cemetery. o |
