Show o CANADIAN BORDER 'LOWS' BRING MILD WEATHER Whys and Wherefores of Utah's spring like weather were set forth briefly Friday by J. Cecil Alter, who has charge of the weather bureau in Salt Lake. Mr. Alter said that low pressure areas have abandoned their normal course, which usually extends east ward across intermountain states, and are now following the Canadian border in their drift across the country. The movement of the storms across the Canadian border induces an importation of balmy, southern climate to Utah. The low pressure areas, which have their origin in the Aleutian island is-land area, have been crowded northward north-ward this season by an abnormally developed "Pacific high," he Bald. The condition is rare, and has oc-cured oc-cured only three times within the last 60 years. He said he had no suggestions to offer regarding ways and means of making the condition permanent. |
