Mary Pulley gave an interesting talk on her trip to Mexico and Mrs. Florence Flor-ence Pi-iday Simmons played violin selections, accompanied by Mis Chloe Priday. Truss Bodell and children of Harriman, visited Sunday Sun-day at the home, of Mrs. Hannah P-hodes. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Anderson of Ogden. spent Sunday a: the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Spratley. 1 . Miss Gladys Hawkins of Salt Lake City visited Sunday at the horn of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hawkins. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Clyde left Saturday for a vacation trip in the canyons of Utah. J Mrs. Frank Jackson and two children. Bobbie and Barbara, spent the past week in Dividend and Eureka. Carol and Glen Werner have returned re-turned to their home in Greeley, . Colorado, after visiting with their grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Werner, and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nielsen. The Elders of the American Fork First ward, their partners and the bishopric and their wives motored to the Cave Camp Thursday evening of last week and spent the evening. Games and a delicious supper were enjoyed by 63 people. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Fransen and sons, Ted and LaMar, left Tuesday for their home in McGill, Nevada. Mrs. Fransen and sons have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Grant. Mr. Fransen came to American Fork last week and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Fransen and two sens, Mr. and Mrs. Grant and family -and Mrs. Axel Andreason of Vineyard, motored to Ephriam where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Johnson. Mr. Fransen, Mrs. Andreason and Mrs. Johnson are brother and sisters. Mrs. Andreason Andrea-son is Mrs. Grant's mother. Mrs. Emma Foster and son Francis, Fran-cis, returned home last week from a trip to California. They accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. Leon Whipple of Ogden and visited Boulder Dam, the fair at San Diego, Stanford university, uni-versity, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and other places of interest. They also visited three Catholic missions, the old San Juan Capistrano, San Louis Obisbo and San Miguel. One week was spent at the home of Mrs. Foster's daughter, Mrs. George W. Conley and family at Long Beach. Miss Catherine Nicholes accompanied accom-panied the group to Utah where she is visiting with relatives in Salt Lake City, Ogden and this city. Grant Peterson of Park City, spent the past week-end visiting with relatives and friends in this city. Miss Leona Kelly returned home Sunday evening from Los Angeles and San Francisco where she has visited for the past month. Mrs. W. A. Robinson and Miss Bessie Robinson spent the weekend week-end in Copperton with Mr. and Mrs. George Earl. i Harold Pratt sent word to his parents here that he is employed at the Safeway Stores in Los Angeles and enjoying his work very much. Harold left for the c:ast city the first of last week. C. E. Rife of Eureka and his son who has been in a Salt Lake hospital hospi-tal visited Saturday night and Sunday Sun-day at the home of Mrs. Hannah Rhodes. Mrs. Rife is a daughter of Mrs. Rhodes. Word has been received this week of the birth of twins, a boy and a girl, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Gaisford of Los Angeles. Mr. Gaisford was a former resident of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walton and Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Bird left Thursday Thurs-day for Zions National park and Cedar Breaks. They will return home about Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. McAllister and family attended the Hatch family reunion in southern Utah during the latter part of July. The group made a trip including Parowan, Cedar Breaks, Puffer's Lake, Bryce, Kanab and Panguitch. On Sunday of this week Mr. and Mrs. McAllister and Miss Diana Haycock of Salt Lake attended the funeral services of Meltiar Hatch at Panguitch. Mr. Hatch is the oldest brother of Mrs. McAllister's father, Ira Hatch of Salt Lake. Miss Helen Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston, is in ; the St. Marks hospital in Salt Lake City Receiving treatment for the loss of the sight of her left eye. . - Miss Johnston's trouble 6tarted when she had an infected tooth pulled on Wednesday of last wek. The infection spread from the tooth to the eye causing the complete loss ; of the sight of the left eye and for j a time that of the right eye was im-paired im-paired but has cleared according to . the last report. Some hope is given ; that in time the left eye may regain its vision. ; Miss Johnston was taken to the hospital last Saturday. ; o Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Miss Florence Duncan, returned to ! her home in San Bernardino after i visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm, E. Duncan. She . expects to be gone about a month. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haslem and i baby of Salt Lake City were week-i week-i end guests at the home of Mr. Haslem's grandmother, Mrs. E. N. ! Wagstaff, and sister, Miss Helen Haslem. Mr. and Mrs. George Watts and family were week-end guests at the home of Mrs. Watts' mother, Mrs. E. N. Wagstaff. Miss Beva Madsen of Salt Lake, was a guest the past week-end of Miss Helen Haslem at the home of Miss Haslem's aunt, Mrs. Mark Coddington. Tlie marriage of Howard G. Kelly Kel-ly of St. Anthony, Idaho, and Miss Irene Hamilton of Sugar ity, Idaho, was solomized Wednesday, July 29, in the Logan temple. Howard is the son of Dr. and Mrs. P. M. Kelly and has a large circle of friends in this city. Miss Irene is the daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Ada Hamilton of Sugar City. They will make then-home then-home in St. Anthony. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor and family returned home Monday after a trip to Raymond, Alberta, Canada, where they visited with Mr. Taylor's brother, Frank R. Taylor. On the way to Canada they visited Yellowstone Yellow-stone park and stopped at Water-ton Water-ton and Glacier parks on the return trip. C. A. Grant, Utah County Clerk, and wife entertained the members of the county clerk's office at Provo at a chicken supper and swim at Schneitter's Hot Pots at Midway Tuesday night. Those attending the party were Mr. and Mis. Orville Larsen of Pleasant Grove, Mr and Mrs. A. R. Hudson of Provo, Mr and Mrs. Bert Snyder of Spanish Fork, andjhe host and hostess. ' Mr. and Mrs. Axel Bloomquist of Salt Lake, former residents of this city, left Monday night with a party ' of 60 for Seattle, Washington. The : ; party is comprised of members of ' ; the "Crown Prince Gustave Adolph" ! male chorus and auxiliary, of Salt ! Lake City of which Mr. Bloomquist is a member and Mrs. Bloomquist a member of the ladies auxiliary. The party from Utah will be ' joined at Seattle by similar units from over the nation to commemorate commemo-rate the tenth anniversary of the visit of the Crown Prince of Sweden, from whom a message of congratulation congratu-lation on this event has been received. re-ceived. Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Bloomquist and daughter who have been residing resid-ing in California are now living in Salt Lake where Helmer will assist his father in the painting and decorating deco-rating business. The many friends of Mr. Bloomquist will be glad to know he and his 6ons have done c exceptionally well in their business I since moving to the capitol city. |
