F- Gaisford, Jr., was a special guest at the meeting of the Athenian Club held at the home of her sister, Mrs. L;Roy Davis of Lehi 1 last Friday afternoon- j Mrs- Hampshire and Mrs. Baksr j left Wednesday for their home in j Virginia after spending the past two j weeks here visiting with their son and brother, Roy Hampshire. Leo Meredith, member of the Y-M. Y-M. M. I. a. stake board and former teacher of the Senior class of the Second ward will give the lesson in that class next Tuesday night. All class members are urged to be present-Last Saturday Mrs. Delbert Chip-man, Chip-man, Mrs. Clyde Thornton and Mrs. Laura Beck were in attendance at a meeting of all FER.A. social workers work-ers of the county held in Provo. In the afternoon the F.ER.A. officers of th- slt; were entertained with a barbecue. Mr. Chipman joined the group for the social. Am. Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Murdock are the happy parents of a baby boy, Ixirn In the Lehl hospital September Septem-ber 2ith- Mr- and Mrs. Marvin Kirkman are receiving congratulations over the birth of a baby girl, who arrived at their home last Friday. Mother and baby are doing nicely. Alfred and Earl Pulley left Wednesday Wed-nesday for La.s Vegas, Nevada, where they 'are employed, after spending a week here visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. Jarvis Aydclotte will entertain enter-tain the members of the Sorosis club this afternoon (Friday) at her home. A review of the bo k, 'The Proselyte' will be given by Mrs. Johnell Walker. At the baby clinic held Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon in the city hall, twenty-five children under school age were examined by Dr. P. R. Bowdish of the county health department. This number is a considerable increase in-crease over more recent clinics. Mrs. M. H. Ingersoll, Mrs. Jarvis Aydclotte and Mrs. Thomas Cod-dington Cod-dington were among the guests at a party given last Saturday afternoon j by Mrs. Mary Finley at her home I in Springville. The social followed i a meeting of the county board of ' the Daughters of Pioneers. Mrs. Byron Crookston left the first of the week and is visiting with relatives rela-tives in Shelley, Idaho. Bishop and Mrs. Lot Robinson and niece, Miss Delia Robinson, left late last week for Iowa, where they are visiting with relatives. They expect ex-pect to be away several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gilchrist of Lehi are the parents of a winsome baby girl, bom in the hospital there September 26th. Mrs- Gilchrist formerly for-merly was Miss Loraine Ingersoll of this city. Friends of Jesse Greene will be pleased to learn his condition has . hewn some improvement the latter part of the week. Mr. Greene has been very ill but he is now slowly recovering. The G. A. Club held their regular meeting Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Harold Brooks. Ten members were present. The program of the evening included three interesting inter-esting talks as follows "Parliamentary "Parliamen-tary Rules," Mrs. H. E. McNeil; "Do's and Don'ts", Mrs. Lillie Evans; "Etiquette," Mrs. LaFleur. The hostess served a dainty lunch.. The H- B. Club opened the season's sea-son's meetings last Friday afternoon with Mrs- Lige Chipman as hostess to the members and several special guests at her home. Bridge was played at four tables, Mrs. Rulon Peterson winning the club prize and Mrs. James S. Chadwick the guest prize. Late in the afternoon a delicious de-licious lunch was served- Mrs- Emma Green was hostess last Friday afternoon to ladies of the Merrymakers Club. The afternoon after-noon was spent in playing games, followed by the serving of a tasty lunch. There were nine members present, also three special guests, Mrs. Stella Nelson, Mrs. Liza Dur-rant Dur-rant of this city, and Mrs- Roy Lott of Lehi. The sixth birthday Wednesday of little Miss Mariam Humphries, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Humphries, was the occasion for a birthday party at her home after school. Miss Paxman replaced Miss Lucy Shelley, who is employed in Provo- On the partial legislative and county ticket filed with the county clerk by the Socialist party appears the names of two American Fork people, nominees for the legislative offices. Mrs- Mary K. Mower land James Spencer are among the five nominees for representatives from this county. Little Miss Doris Dean Ault narrowly nar-rowly escaped serious injury last Saturday morning when she fell from an automobile whioh was in motion- With her parents she was enroute to Salt Lake- Mr. Ault Thornton BU'k left last week for Los Angeles to obtain employment. Mrs. Bh-k and daughter will join him there in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leavitt and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mc-Mullin Mc-Mullin and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Honoring Mrs. Ralph Gillespi of this city, formerly Miss Myrl Carlson Carl-son of Pleasant Grove, a recent bride, a shower was given by her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. P. J. Carlson Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon in Pleasant Grove. Thirty friends and relatives were present and the bride received a number of lovely gifts. Thursday afternoon Mr. Gillespi's grandmother. grandmoth-er. Mrs. Margaret Robinson, entertained enter-tained at a shower which was also attended by thirty women. The afternoon was spent in games and music followed by a delicious lunch. The leaders of the Junior class of the First ward M. I. A. entertained Monday night at the home of Mrs. Walter Durrant. Special guests at the social besides the class members were the new presidency of the ward Y. W. M. I. A. and the former presidency. presi-dency. In all sixteen were present. The forepart of the evening was spent in working on the girls' project pro-ject books after which games were played and a dainty lunch was served. serv-ed. The hostesses were Mrs. Durrant, Dur-rant, Mrs. Milton Adams and Miss Eleanor McAllister. Last Thursday evening a Beethoven Beetho-ven meeting was held at the home of Miss Helen Devey. This being the first meeting a short program was given. Miss Merma Grant played play-ed a violin solo and Miss Helen Ellison Elli-son sang a vocal solo, the accompanist accompan-ist being , Miss Devey. The rest of the evening was spent in playing the game called "music". A very tasty lunch was served later. Assisting Miss Devey were, Glen Haslem and Fern Robinson. All members of the camp are asked to be in attendance and visitors will be made welcome. . 1 o I stopped at the Ampco service station stat-ion on the east State road and was making the turn onto the pavement when the door the child wias leaning against unfastened, precipitating her to the ground- She fell face forward and inflicted a ssvere gash over the right eye and minor cuts and bruises. She was immediately taken to the office of Dr. V. F. Houston and given medical medi-cal attention. After a vacation during the summer sum-mer months, the Bee Orchis Club resumed their meetings last Friday afternoon, with Mrs- Bertha Saeer as hostess at her home. Fifteen members wers present and the afternoon af-ternoon was spent in sewing and chatting, after which the hostess served a delicious lunch. The Sunday School was in charge of this entertainment which was well attended- A pro-1 gram of which Mrs. West Hammond Ham-mond was in charge was given, consisting con-sisting of a talk on 'Charm' by Miss Bessie Newman, who also gave a reading; a vocal duet by Misses Joan and Elizabeth Green, accompanied accom-panied by their mother, Mrs. Philip Greene; a vocal solo by Mrs. W. R-Halliday R-Halliday accompanied by Mrs. West Hammond, and a solo by Miss Betty Houston, accompanied by her mother, moth-er, Mrs- V. F. Houston. Following the program games were played under un-der the direction of Mrs. Elmo Peters Pet-ers and Miss Mildred Chipman, after af-ter which refreshments were served. |
