Show CITY OFFICERS INVESTIGATE BUILDING WOOD ROAD During the past week a group of men consisting of Harold Walker, ! representing the city fathers, V. N. West, representing the forest sendee, Archie Boren, Arnel Green and R. D. Wadley as representative citizens, made a trip on horseback to investigate investi-gate the possibilities of building a wood road into the hills north of Grove Creek canyon where a great deal of wood could be hauled for next winter. The proposed road work would start south of Battle Creek canyon, go to Curley Springs, and then follow fol-low the old Driggs drag road back below Twin Peaks over the ridge to north of Grove Creek- canyon. It I was roughly estimated that the road ! could be built with a 10 to 15 per I cent grade. The city proffers to build the road to the forest line, a distance of about a mile, if the forest service will complete the road a distance dis-tance of four or five miles. While making this trip about fifty head of deer were seen just a short distance above the farm of David Gourley. Farther up in the hills a herd of elk was seen. |
