Show Review - Wednesday, June 1, 1988 - Page 6 Dance group names new trophy in memory of former member The Utah Angels Dance Center has announced that a trophy will be awarded each year in memory of Sharee Carson Wagenman, a for-mer member of the group who died in an accident earlier this month. The trophy will be awarded to the girl who is the most outstanding on stage, based on talent, skill and showmanship. Of Sharee, it was said, "Her quiet, modest personality was complimented by a natural talent in dance that made her a standout both in class and performing. She will be remembered as the beautiful blonde girl who was a friend to everyone. Sharee loved life and she loved to dance," the Angels dance group said. "They will miss her greatly for she leaves with the sweetest of memories." The spring show, "The Magic of Dance," was also dedicated in loving memory. After nine months of construction, Pleasant Grove High School seminary officers placed the finished ark in the P.G. swimming pool for a maiden voyage. Students had placed a popsicle stick with their name on it, on the ark for every 10 chapters of the Old Testament which they read during the year. About 30,000 sticks were used in the construction. A large crowd, many wearing Noah-typ- e beards and robes, attended the launching ceremony last Thursday. Gary Sanderson receives Eagle rank I - - ' ' ' '' H; 'Jj I, - - f: ! Z ', " ,t - Gary Sanderson was presented his Eagle Scout award Sunday, May 22, during a special Court of Honor. Gary is the son of Ed and Denise Sanderson. He has three brothers and one sister. He lives in Pleasant Grove and is a member of the 16th Ward. Gary has lived most of his life in Pleasant Grove, with an exception of several years in Carbon County, in the small town of East Carbon. Gary enjoys living in Pleasant Grove and really likes the summer. He plays the tenor saxophone in the junior high school band, and has been on the honor roll every quarter while in junior high. He was elected this spring to be next year's studentbody president at the junior high, Gary is very active in sports. He really enjoys competition. He likes football, baseball, swimming and track. He has competed as a Little Mountain Grappler in wrestling since the age of three and has done very well. He is the defending state champion at 125 lbs. this year. He is a five time state champion during the last five years. He has wrestled on a national level for the last three years, placing second and fourth twice. He is hoping to win the first place medal this year in Gillette, Wyo. Gary wants to be a doctor and is very interested and motivated in always doing his best. Gary was born in Provo on Feb. 1 , 1974. He is and is in the eighth grade at Pleasant Grove Jr. High. Gary Sanderson Derek Taylor presented Eagle badge in Scout Court of Honor Derek Taylor Derek Taylor was presented his Eagle Scout Award Sunday, May 22, during a special Court of Honor. Derek is the son of Robert and Pam Taylor, He has two brothers ;' and three sisters. He and his family live, in Pleasant Grove and are members of the 16th Ward. Derek has lived in Utah County most of his life and has lived in J Pleasant Grove for the past 12V2 j years. Derek plays the piano and trumpet. He loves the animals and nature in general. He would like to have a career as a veterinarian someday. He is very active in sports such as swimming, basketball, tennis, baseball. Football is his very favorite. For his Eagle project, Derek painted the fence and also the parking lines at the Pleasant Grove Jr. High seminary building, with the help of his troop. Derek was born Dec. 14, 1972. He is and is in the ninth grade at Pleasant Grove Jr. High. Grovecrest sixth graders hold graduation The sixth graders of Grovecrest were treated to a graduation dinner by their parents and teachers Friday, May 20. i The dinner was held at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium where festive tables had been set up to ac-comodate the students and their guests. The dinner was preceded by a short program. The sixth grade teachers wish to express their thanks to the parents, to Norton's, and all those who helped in any way on this project.
