One of the newer attractions at Sea World is the magnificent Penguin Encounter, presented by ARCO and home to more than 400 birds of both north and south polar .regions. A highlight of a visit to the San Diego attraction is the magnificent dolphin petting pool. Here visitors actually pet and feed several species of dolphins and whales. Thirty educational displays are presented throughout the lushly landscaped park in such an attractive and informative in-formative manner that it is easy to spend a whole day exploring the experiences they offer. A California tide pool" exhibit awaits families who enjoy the learn-by-experiencing approach. Here guests may pick up bat stars and view sea anemones and spiny lobsters while narrators discuss the many fascinating features of these and a myriad of other tide pool animals. A two-acre wonderland of nautically-themed play e'ements awaits children at Cap'n Kids' World. Youngsters can be amused for hours on play equipment such as the "Fishnet Climb" and "King of the Wave," a nine-foot vinyl wave waiting to be climbed. Of special interest to the first-time first-time Sea World visitor is the guided tour program. For a nominal fee, highly trained guides provide fascinating tidbits of information as they escort guests through some of Sea World's exhibits as well as several behind-the-scene areas.
