' ' i " - ' ' - i Rhea Jenkins Penrod Rasmussen, Lehi, will be 80 years old Saturday, Aug. 22. Her children will honor her at an open house Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lehi Senior Citizens Center, 165 N. 100 East. Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration. No gifts please. Rhea was born Aug. 22, 1907 in Provo to James William and Emma Jenkins. She married Cloyed Arnold Penrod Jan. 26, 1928. He died Jan. 6, 1969. She married John Boyd Rasmussen of provo July 31, 1972. Her early school days were spent at the Maeser School in Provo. She attended and graduated from Provo High School. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Startup Candy Co. in Provo. Through the years the Penrods lived in Provo, Salt Lake City and American Fork. In March 1949 they opened Penny's 5 & 10 in Lehi. They moved to Lehi a short time later. She is an active member of the Lehi 6th Ward where she sings in the choir and is a visiting teacher. In the past, she has been assistant ward librarian and youth teacher. She enjoys bowling and keeps busy bowling on three leagues. At a banquet on Aug. 1, 1987, Rhea was honored at the Jack and Jill Lanes for 21 years of continuous bowling on the same league and same team. She also enjoys crocheting and makes many keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. She has three children: William James (Jim) Penrod, American Fork; Cloyed Ronald (Ron) Penrod, Long Beach, Calif.; Patricia Penrod Jensen, Presidio of San Francisco, Calif. She has 28 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Rhea Rasmussen |
