Show Annual alumni game promises great performance With the rosters now finalized and only 10 days until the 1986 alumni game, practice and training schedules for the two teams are "in full swing". ..meaning getting together every other night or so to rehearse some plays and firm up some bodies, that in some cases aren't quite as hard as they were in high school. But, even though some of the bodies are soft, there will be some real football played on Oct. 11, and you can "take that to the bank!" After Monday's draft, the two teams will literally match up man for man. The White team, which is basically the State Finalist team of 1982 (minus Scott Walker, Jason Allred and all-stater Leo Biggs; plus Mitch McCuistion, Chad Henry and Gary Moosman; will take on an all-star team of players from 1977 to 1981. This team, who will wear blue, Clark Hill, Darren Frampton and Curt Harrison are shown in 1982 quarterfinal game against Dixie. This trio and many others will play in Alumni Game Oct. 11 in Viking Stadium. Proceeds go to the P.G. football program. features some of the more "hard-nosed" "hard-nosed" players ever to play at PGHS. Do the names Mark Atwood, Cliff Wood, Mike Fryer, Jeff Strasburg, and Harry Julkunen ring any bells? You can bet they rang plenty of opponents "bells" while wearing Viking blue! The White team, who will field a good defense of its own, will have to out "finesse" the tough Blue squad to stay in the game. Playing for the Whites will be 1982 all-staters Curt Harrison (fullback), Craig Hilton (receiver), and Clark Hill (quarterback). Gary Moosman, Darrin Frampton and Mickay Robinson will also be key people to watch. Center Brent McAllister, guards Daryn Smith and Chris Kitchen and tackles Stony Brooks and Riley Frazier will make up a solid offensive line, while Rod Maxfield, Kelley Sanderson, Phil Cook, Mitch McCuistion, Chad Henry and Mark Harvey will make the White defense strong. The annual fundraiser for Pleasant Grove High School football could end up being one of the best football games played in PG this year. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in Viking Stadium. |
