Grove junior varsity volleyball team losJ f-r--Z . ,--& 1 K-i (!? f ' I Pleasant Grove High School's Junior Varsity Volleyball team started really strong this ye;i'-, but has had some tough losses these past two weeks. Playing Springville, they lost two of the three games that they played, 15-3, 10-15 and . 13-15. The tough loss in the last game of the set saw excellent even serving and defense by Pleasant Grove, but not enough to beat off the strong offense of Springville. Provo soundly beat Pleasant Grove in the first game, 4-15. P.G. couldn't seem to get on the board at all, and when they finally did rally, they lost the serve, and Provo's no. 10 made five points in a row that P.G. couldn't answer. In the second game, P.G. rallied with Heather Coons starting with 7 unanswered points and Joy. Warner making three in a row. P.G. lost that game, 12- 15. The J.V.'s next games were at Carbon. The first game was close, 13- 15. Tracie Williamson served five in a row, and Betsy Yerkes made four points. The second game was what one of the players called a "Bomb!" The girls couldn't seem to return anything, allowing one server from Carbon six straight points. The score from that game was 5-15. In their match against Provo, the team again lost both games, 4-15 and 12-15. Provo had some strong Junior Varsity Volleyball: Front, Hope Smith, Mindy Hall, Heather Coons, Jenny Wells Sharon Lee. Back, Neresa Nielsen, Pam Beagly, Betsy Yerkes, Tracy Williamson, J0j Warner, Vicki Allred, Ruth Stanton. The PGHS volleyball teams are having another gooj year. spikers, and the J.V. worked hard to block the spikes, but to no avail. They rallied in the second game, with Heather Coons serving 7 straight points, Joy Warner serving three and Mindy Hall contributing i 2. Tracie Williamson made , 1 great blocks and hits in the ' row. : |
