Show Shapedown class offered What is shapedown? Shapedown is the only available weight management program for adolescents that has been shown to produce significant long term effects, ef-fects, according to directors of the class. The program is being offered at American Fork Hospital on Thursdays Thur-sdays beginning Apr. 18. Classes are from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The program is designed for adolescents 12 to 18 years of age who are over weight or engaged in restrictive dieting. In addition to diet and exercise, shapedown focuses on the many behaviors associated with weight : gain - hyperemotional state eating, internal cue responsivity, compulse eating, eating style, eating environment, en-vironment, assertiveness, idleness and peer interaction. A wide range of behavioral techniques are incorporated as well as exercise. Shapedown produces long term significant changes in weight, depression, knowledge and behavior.
