P.G. sluggers drop two tough contests The Pleasant Grove baseball team dropped two tough games last week to the defending 4-A and 3-A State Champs, the Bingham Miners and American Fork Cavemen. Against Bingham, the Vikings started out rough as they committed com-mitted numerous errors that led to several Bingham runs. In the last inning, the Vikings rallied to pull within three runs with help from key hits by Deon Bezzant and Gary Roberts. Don Young went the distance and threw a good game. Coach Jon Hoover praised the juniors who came through in the clutch. PG got their act together on Friday when they faced American Fork in AF. Jeff Harris came in to relieve Nick Starr on the mound and pitched well. Going into the seventh inning the Vikes held a slim 3-2 lead when Travis Hansen singled to drive in the tying run. Later in the inning, Chad Robinson belted a three run homer to give the Cavemen the 6-3 win. The Vikes have had a tough preseason pre-season but will be a contender when Region play starts next week. This afternoon the Vikes travel to Granger to take on the Lancers and Friday they will host Roy on the PG diamond. |
