Vikings of the Month named at PGHS Vikings of the Month for April at Pleasant Grove High School are sophomores Christopher Farnell and Rebecca Hopkins, juniors Brooks Peacock and Heather Davis, and seniors Pamela Johanson and Robert Jolley. Rebecca is the daughter of Bill and Judy Hopkins. She is the oldest, of four children. She was born in Great Falls, Mont., and moved to Utah when she was three. Her family lives on a small farm and she loves animals. She is a member of Future Farmers of America and has won several ribbons rib-bons for showing at the Utah County Fair. Rebecca has an aquarium of tropical fish which she enjoys caring for. She is a member of Brother Ron Firth's seminary class and a member of the Pleasant Grove Fifth Ward where she recently participated par-ticipated in the stake road shows. Rebecca's ambitions for the future include passing Drivers Education so that she can get her drivers license this summer and, hopefully, a summer job, attending Utah Technical College after graduation, and having a career in Animal Science or Agriculture. Christopher is the son of Brian and Lydia Farnell. He has a 3.69 GPA. His extracurricular activities include in-clude playing varsity tennis (singles), and being a member of . FBLA. His hobbies are studying piano theory; playing and creating new sounds on his synthesizer; scuba diving; skiing; traveling all over the world and what every teenager enjoys - dancing and socializing with other teenagers. His favorite foods are a T-bone steak or taquitos with his own guacamole sauce. His favorite beverage is a. tall glassful of ice filled with Dr. Pepper. He enjoys music and his favorites are Beethoven and Duran Duran. Heather is the daughter of Floyd and Elaine Davis and she is the third of eight children. She is a member of the National Honor Society. She is active in the FHA as an officer and she recently won third place in the ZCMI Table Setting Contest at the University Mall. She is a member of the DECA Club, too. Heather is active in her church and serves as Laurel President and co-editor of the ward newspaper. She plays the piano and enjoys traveling, interior decorating, sewing and skiing. Brooks is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Peacock. He was born in Mt. Pleasant and has lived in Ephraim and Richfield, Utah, the San Fernando Fer-nando Valley and Orange County in California and has resided in Pleasant Grove since 1981. He enjoys snow and water skiing, traveling, hunting, motorcycles, computers and stereos. Scouting has held a special interest in his life. He is an Eagle Scout and has obtained several palms beyond the Eagle. He has attended Timberline Youth Leadership, many scout camps and was a staff member at the 15th World Scouting Jamboree in Alberta, Canada in 1983. He enjoys backpacking and loves the out-of-doors. Brooks has served in many positions in his Priesthood Quorums and recently received his Dity to God award. He is president of his seminary class. He is a member of the Ballroom Dance Team which has been invited to perform on a cruise ship this summer to Mexico. He is a member of DECA and just this past month competed at the State Convention in Finance and Credit winning first place and he will represent the school at the National DECA convention con-vention in San Francisco in May. He is active in FBLA and serves as chapter reporter and state Lake Region vice president, he attended the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia last summer and the Western Regional in Tucson, Ariz., in November. He helped organize and host the FBLA Regional Competition where he also took first place in En-trepreneurship En-trepreneurship II. Brooks works parttime at Ad-ventureland Ad-ventureland Video in Orem and Pony Express Pizza in American Fork. He plans to attend college, fulfill an LDS mission and continue endeavors en-deavors in the business field. Pamela is the daughter of William C. and Ila Johanson of Lindon. She is a member of the National Honor Society, A Cappella Choir, and is president of the FBLA. She has received many business awards and was a representative at Utah Business Week at Logan last summer. She has received many scholastic honors. She was honored twice by the United States Achievement Academy, included in this year's Who's Who of American High School Students, and has been on the honor roll many times. Some of her interests include camping and mountain climbing. She was a youth leader at girl's camp last summer and also completed com-pleted a course in repelling. She plays center on the ward basketball team and enjoys other sports. Pam is an avid reader and a good cook. At the present time she is working after school at the Utah State Training School. She has been awarded a scholarship for next year to BYU and plans to study nursing. Robert is the son of Carl and Donna Jolley. He was born in Bountiful but he moved to Longmont, Colorado when he was three months old. They lived there for five years and then his family moved to Lindon where they lived for two years before moving to Pleasant Grove. Robert has always been active in sports. He has played on the city league baseball and basketball teams. He has excelled in swimming and has been on the, P. G., Swim Team for nine years. He loves football and has played on little league, sophomore,- junior varsity and the varsity high school football teams. His position was tight end and he loved every minute of it, inspite of broken fingers and sprained ankles. Robert is on the high school track team this spring and is participating in the Decathlon event. Last summer sum-mer he entered the Athletic Congress track meet and came in fifth in the nation in the javelin. He enjoys some crafts, his friends arid girls, not necessarily in that order. Robert has served in many ' positions in his Priesthood Quorums and is now serving as assistant in the Priests Quorum. He plans to attend college this fall for one semester and then go on an LDS mission. |
