Show Youth City Council sworn in Robert Williams, Pleasant Grove City Recorder, issued the oath of office to the Youth City Council during the recent regular city council meeting. The Youth Council members were introduced to their counterparts on the city council. Youth Mayor Angie Bone listed the objectives of the council for the coming year. They included helping to lay the sod at the city well sites, a job which has recently been completed. They also have planned to carve pumpkins at the Lindon Care and Training Center, make Halloween Safety Posters for the elementary schools, sponsor safety programs in the elementary schools, do a Sub-for-Santa program with the American Fork Youth Council, do a city Christmas tree, help type documents for the city library, and to do a city beautification project. Mayor Bone said the students would like to attend the Youth City Council conference at' Utah State University next spring. Mayor David Holdaway told the students that he was pleased with the large number of young people who are involved in the Youth City Council. He said he was excited with the goals they had set and the variety of projects they have and will work on. He encouraged them to meet with the members of the council on a regular basis and to participate in departmental meetings any time they would like to. |
