Show PG takes Lehi down Pleasant Grove opened the Region 8 wrestling season with a 40-15 40-15 dual match win over Lehi Thursday. At Lehi, the Pioneers took a quick 6-0 lead and after four matches Lehi was on top 15-6. Pleasant Grove's six points came from sophomore, Brad Mills, who won the 105 pound match for forfeit. Shane Jacob posted a win at 126 pounds to get the Viking momentum going and when Brett Anderson pinned Vaughan Carlile in the 132 pound bout, the score was tied at 15-15. 15-15. From there the tight match turned into a Viking rout as PG won the final six matches to earn the 40-15 40-15 win In addition to Anderson, Shawn Pueblo, Chad Maxfield and Dan Phelon won ther matches with falls over their Lehi opponents. Other Viking winners were Rick and Jim Shumway and Jeff Hamner. "We're young but the kids are starting to really wrestle," stated Darold Henry, Viking head coach. Tomorrow, PG hosts Region 8 favorite, Spanish Fork. The Don's . are defending 3-A state champions and have a powerful team that has been crushing opponents in dual matches.
