Curt Brinkman to speak at Singles Fireside Sunday in American Fork The North Utah County Singles Fireside will be held Sunday, January 13th at the American Fork West Stake Center, 165 North 350 West, American Fork, at 7:00 p.m. Curt Brinkman will be the featured speaker and will share his experiences of his life. Many have shared in Curt's achievements through local news stories and a book written about his life, "The Will to Win" published in 1981. One of the greatest thrills of his life came in 1980 when he won the wheelchair division of the Boston Marathon setting a new record time of one hour 55 minutes. As Curt wheeled across the finish line, he raised his arms high over his head and yelled, "it's my year, finally my year!" As the year progressed it certainly proved to be his year. He went to Holland and won four gold medals in the in-ternational Para-Olympi- and later in the year was honored with a "Curt Brinkman Day" in Utah County and was the Grand Marshall for the BYU Homecoming Parade. Currently Curt is employed as rehabilitation manager at the Deseret Industries of Provo. He and his wife Bonnie have three children, a son and two daughters ages five and two weeks. They live in American Fork and are active in their ward where Curt teaches the Priests Quorum. All Singles are invited to the fireside for a spiritual evening and visiting and refreshments after Curt's inspiring message.
