Show Review - Thursday, December i984 -- Page8 Ordinance No. 1984-1- 1 establishes Historic Preservation Conimitw ( mission Duties. The Historic Preservation Commission shall have the following duties: A. Survey and In-ventory Community Historic Resources. The Historic Preservation Commission shall conduct or cause to be conducted a survey of the historic, ar-chitectural, and resources within the community. The survey shall be compatible with the Utah Inventory of Historic and Sites. Survey and inventory documents shall be maintained and shall be open to the public. The survey shall be updated at least every ten vears. B. Review Proposed Nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The Historic Preservation Commission shall review and comment to the State Historic Preservation Officer on all proposd National Register nominations for properties within the boundaries of Pleasant Grove City. When the Historic Preservation Com-mission considers a National Register nomination which is normally evaluated by professionals in a specific discipline and that discipline is not represented on the Commission, the Commission shall seek expertise in that area before rendering its decision. C. Provide advice and information. 1. The Historic Preservation Com-mission shall act in an advisory role to other officials and depart-ments of government regarding the iden-tification and protection of local historic and archeological resour-ces. 2. The Historic Preservation Com-mission shall work toward the continuing education of citizens regarding historic preservation and community history. D. Enforcement of State Historic Preservation Laws. The Commission shall suport the enforcement of all state laws relating to historic preservation. These include, but are not limited to: U.C.A. "The Historic District Act;" U.C.A. 27 and 30 regarding the protec-tion of Utah antiquities; and U.C.A. regarding notification of the State Historic Preservation Office of any known proposed action which will destroy or affect a site, building, or object owned by the State of Utah and included on or eligible for the State or national Registers. SECTION 4: Severability. The provisions of this Or-dinance are severable. SECTION 5: Repealer. The provisions of all prior ordinances which are inconsistent or in conflict with this Or-dinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 6: Ef-fective Date. The City of Pleasant Grove recognizes that the historical heritage of the Pleasant Grove City community is among its most valued and important assets. It is therefore the intent of Pleasant Grove City to identify, preserve, protect and enhance historic areas and sites lying within the city limits of the City of Pleasant Grove. SECTION 2. Historic Preservation Com-mission. A Historic Preservation Com-mission is hereby established by the City of Pleasant Grove with the following provisions: ' A. The Commission shall consist of five members with a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation, appointed by the City Council for terms of not less than two years. B. To the extent available in the com-munity, two Com-mission members shall be professionals, as defined by National Park Service regulations, from the disciplines of history, and architecture or architectural history. C. The Commission shall meet at least twice each year and conduct business in accordance with the Open Public Meeting laws of Utah. D. Written minutes of each Commission meeting shall be prepared and made available for public inspection. Officer Cody Cullimore said that the fully loaded bus, driven by Clair Lloyd, was slowing down for the stop . sign at 300 East and a Jeep driven by Mark Davis, 160 S. 1400 East, which was behind the bus could not stop in time to avoid hitting the rear of the bus. No one was injured in the mishap, The officer said the road was very slick at the time of the accident. Damage to the Jeep was set at $1,000 and there was only $100 damage to the bus. Two neighbors collided head on near the intersection of Cherry Hill Drive and 200 South as one was entering from 200 South and the other was leaving Cherry Hill Drive. Involved in the collision were Van Bulkley, 729 Cherry Hill Circle driving a 1978 AMC Concord, and Virgil Jacobson, 731 Cherry Hill Circle, driving a Chrysler New Yorker. There were no injuries, according to Officer Cody Cullimore, but damage to the Bulkley car was $1,500 and $600 to the Jacobson vehicle. |
