Brower Bob and Roberta Peterson A missionary farewell in honor of P. Robert and Robert Peterson will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, at 9 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Fourteenth Ward, 825 S. Loader. The couple has been called to serve in the England, Leeds LDS Mission. They enter the MTC on Jan. 9. The Peterson's have lived in Pleasant Grove since 1970 when Robert retired from the U. S. Air Force. Both have been active in ward and stake callings. Most recently they have been team teaching in Primary. Prior to that Roberta serve as Stake Relief Society President for five years in the Pleasant Grove East Stake. Robert served as ward activity, chairman and as a high councilman. The couple have six children, four sons and twin daughters, and 15 grandchildren. The Petersons would enjoy having all their friends attend theirfarewell meeting and greet them in their home on Sunday afternoon. Mark V. Austin Kent McDonald ''i Kent McDonald has been called to serve in the Illinois, Chicago - V Creek Speaking Mission. He will '' speak in a sacrament meeting ' Sunday, Dec. 30, at 1:15 p.m. in the I Pleasant Grove 3rd Ward Chapel, 193 N. 300 East. Friends and family are invited to U1 attend. Kent is the son of Ralph and flamja McDonald of Pleasant V (;rove. He graduated from Pleasant J Grove High School, where he was involved in Student Council, J National Honor Society, band, and was class valedictorian. He has been active in scouting, where he V achieved the rank of Eagle. 1 Jann Gann j Sister Jann Gann will be honored at a missionary farewell planned for Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2:15 p.m. in the Lindon Fourth Ward. Jann is the daughter of Joseph William Olsen and the late Louise Childs Olsen. She will enter the MTC 1 on Jan. 10 prior to her departure to the Cochabamba, Bolivia LDS Mission. She graduated from South Torrance High School in Torrance, Calif, and served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. She is presently working as a nurse at the LDS Hospital in Salt (: Lake City after graduating from (, Utah Technical College as an LPN. All friends and relatives are in- - ' vited to her farewell. ; Susan Ellen Brower A missionary farewell will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, for Sister Susan Ellen Brower in the Lindon Second Ward, 528 W. 100 South, Lindon. She is the daughter of Thayne and Ellen Brower. She has been called to the Taiwan Taipei LDS Mission. She will enter the MTC on Jan. 10. Susan graduated from Provo High School and LDS Seminary. Since graduation she has been employed by the Provo School District as a bookkeeper. All friends and relatives are in-vited to her farewell. Karen Fugal Karen Fugal, daughter of Grant K. and Jeneil Fugal of Pleasant Grove, has been called to serve in the Mexico, Mexico City South LDS Mission. A farewell testimonial will be held on Sunday, Dec. 30, at 9 a.m. in the 10th Ward Chapel, 700 E. 500 North, Pleasant Grove. All friends and relatives are' in-vited to attend the meeting and to visit with her at her home that afternoon at 910 E. Grovecreek Drive, Pleasant Grove. Karen is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. She attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City and has worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and currently, in Provo. Robert & Roberta Peterson Reed and Betty Matthews Reed and Betty Matthews, American Fork, have been called to serve in the New York, Rochester LDS Mission. They will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. in the American Fork North Stake Center, 26th Ward Chapel, 975 N. 60 East. Brother and Sister Matthews will enter the Missionary Training Center on Jan. 9. Elder Mark V. Austin will be honored at a missionary farewell Sunday, Dec. 30, at 10:50 a.m. in n Third Ward. Elder Austin is the son of Vaughan and Cheryl Austin. He has been called to serve in the Rapid City, South Dakota LDS Mission. He will enter the MTC on Jan. 17. He is a graduated of Pleasant Grove High School and attended college with a scholarship. ,, Mark has served as Deacons and Teachers Quorum president and as assistant to the president of the Priest Quorum. He is presently teaching Primary. He is a seminary graduate and has received the On My Honor award. Mark has been on the staff at Camp Maple Dell and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He is currently working at Sun-dance Ski Resort and attending college. All friends and relatives are in-vited to his farewell. High school age youth invited to five stake New Year's Eve dance A five stake New Year's Eve I Dance is planned for Dec. 31 beginning at 9 p.m. at the Lindon Chapel located at Main Street and & Center Street in Lindon. s;:' All high school age youth are in- - vited to attend the dance. The cost B 3 will be $3 in advance and $3.50 at the door. Tickets may be purchased ltd from each ward's youth leaders. Dress for the dance is casual but no levi's, please. Breakfast will be served at 12:30 a.m. Invited all your friends and come out and have a great time welcoming in the new year. Basketball training films available The Pleasant Grove Recreation Vi Department has made arrangements for the NYSA video ""l tapes on Basketball Offensive & ; Defensive Skills and Drills to be ; available during the holidays for ' showing at the Recreation Center. Coaches are invited to view these films with the team or by them-selves. They will offer some ex-cellent coaching helps. If you want to bring your team, call the Recreation Center and reserve a specific time. The films will be available for viewing at the following times. Thursday, Dec. 27, 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, same times as above. Saturday, Dec. 29, 10 a.m., noon, 2 JL and 5 p.m. a |
