Show Freshman cagers 16-2 for the season The Pleasant Grove freshman basketball team finished their regular season play this week with three victories. This gives them an impressive 16-2 record, and first place in league standings. They traveled to Spanish Fork last week and came out on top of a hard-fought game, with a 69-58 score. Balanced scoring proved to be too much for Spanish Fork, as Cody Bell got 19 points. Todd Simmons and Jeff Harris each had 18. Harris had 15 rebounds. The starting five all scored in double figures as the Trojans knocked off Lehi in an easy win last Thursday. The Trojans', all-around size was just too much for the smaller Pioneers. Scott Jensen scored 22, to lead the scoring, and Cody Bell and Todd Simmons each added 15. Jeff Harris had 14, and Evan Thomas added 10 in the 88-67 win. The Trojans traveled to Provo on Tuesday, and barely escaped with a win. After being behind for the whole game, the Trojans finally decided to play ball the last four minutes of the game. A hustling full court press resulted in numerous turnovers for Provo and got P.G. back in the game. Scott Jensen sunk a 15 footer with one second on the clock to give P.G. the 53-52 win. Todd Simmons had 15 points, followed by Jeff Harris with 14. Ten of Harris' points came in the last four minutes. Scott Jensen added 13. The Trojans go into tournament play next week at the Timpview gym. |
