Lady Vikings lose, J.V. split On Dec. 11, the Lady Vikings played host to the Lady Wasps from Heber with the JV winning 26-2- 1 and . ' the varsity losing 38-2- The JV contest was tight throughout, with both teams playing good defense. The young Lady Vikings lead 9-- 2 at first quarter, 15-1- 2 at half, 21-1- 9 at third quarter and held the Lady Wasps to just a field goal in the fourth quarter for their 26-2- 1 vic-tory. Scoring for the JV were Trin Card and Jayleen Walker with 8 each, followed by Sharron Brady with 6 and Kim Woffinden with 4. The varsity contest started out the same way, a tight defensive struggle for the first half as the Lady Wasps lead 14-1- 2 at the end of the first quarter, 18 to 16 at the half and 24-2- 1 at the third quarter. The Lady Vikings shooting failed them during the fourth quarter, so the Lady Wasps outscored the Lady Vikings 14-- The girls played hard, but just could not get anything to work. Scoring were Margo Nelson and Kathy Maughan with 6, Lila Fugal and Lorna Joseph with 4, Cherlynn Johnsin with 3, Debbie Fisher and D'Nette Holdaway with 2 each. P.G. vs. Timpview On Thursday, the Lady Vikings traveled to Timpview where the JV lost a heartbreaker in overtime 41-3- 9 and varsity lost 51-3- The JV lead most of the contest until midway through the fourth quarter. The young Lady Vikings played their best ball of the season during the first half as they lead 10-- 8 at the end of the first quarter and then stretched the lead to 23-1- 0 at the half. Starting the third quarter, the young Lady Vikings looked like a different team as Timpview d them 14-- 5 to close the gap to 28-2- After that it was pretty much each team trading baskets up to the overtime. Both teams had chances to win before the overtime but critical mistakes and missed free throws and shots plagued the Lady Vikings. Scoring for the young ; Lady Vikings were Kim Woffinden with 16, Sharron Brady, playing perhaps her best game of the year with 10, Jayleen Walker and Andrea Wallace with 5, Trin Card with 2 and Anita Larsen chipped in with 1. The JV record is now which is very pleasing to the coaches because of their steady im-provement from the start of the season. The varsity's loss to Timpview was an example of not being ready to play. The Lady Vikings were down 15-- 8 at- - the end of the first quarter, then only scored 3 points in the second quarter and were down 33-1- After a good talking to during halftime, the Lady Vikings came back out and outscored the Thun-derbir-by 11 points. Scoring for the Lady Vikings were Cherlynn Johnson with 13 points, Lila Fugal and Margo Nelson with 7, Holdaway with 5, Kathy Maghan with 4 and Debbie Fisher with 2.
