John Penrod earns Eagle F V r t " " ; 'X ' 1 : J-- ' John Penrod, son of Verl and Myra Penrod, has received his Eagle Badge in a Pleasant Grove Stake Court of Honor. John attends Pleasant Grove High School as a sophomore. He enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, listening to the radio and riding his motorcycle. He attends Seminary and is a member of the FFA. John has been active in Scouting since he was a Cub Scout. He has earned the Arrow of Light and Duty to God Award. He has been senior patrol leader and team captain. He has also been a den chief and denner. He is active in his church callings as president of the Deacons Quorum and is now president of the Teachers Quorum. For his Eagle Project, John, with the help of Ralph Cook and fellow Scouts, built a camp cupboard for the Young Women to take to summer camp last year. Legal Community Development Block Grant hearing planned for next Tuesday USE OF COM-MUNITY DEVELOP-MENT BLOCK GRANT. :The Pleasant Grove City Council will con-duct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 5, 1984 at 7 p.m. in the city hall to explain to the public how the city will use $150,000 of Community Development Block Grant funds. Pleasant Grove City has received notice of award of a $150,000 grant from the department of Housing and Urban Develop-ment and it is the city's intention to expend these funds and possibly a . portion of city sewer department funds to extend the city sewer line on 1300 West from state street to 1100 North and then west on 1100 North to the Fir-woo- d Subdivision. A special improvement district is proposed to extend the sewer line through the Firwood Subdivision. Because of the problem with failing septic tanks in this area of town the city council feels the providing of sewer service to this area is important to the health and safety of city residents. Rank of Eagle bestowed on Michael Carter rtTi J i Michael Lee Carter, son of Dennis and Diana Carter has been awarded his Eagle Badge in a Court of Honor held in the Pleasant Grove Stake. Michael, 14, is the grandson of Pauline Carter and the late Ammisie Carter, and Gale and Eula Rogers McCandless. An eighth grader at Pleasant Grove Junior High School, Michael likes to draw and lift weights in his spare time. He enjoys riding motorcycles end almost every kind of sport there is. He is learning to play golf and likes to fish and camp. He has wrestled , played baseball and football. He likes to do genealogy work and has gone with his parents several times to the library. He would like to be a fireman in the community like his father when he grows up. He has served as Deacons Quorum president and secretary. For his Eagle project, he MICHAEL L.
