Show Raises ambulance fees At the suggestion of the Pleasant Grove Ambulance Association the city council Tuesday night raised some of the rates for ambulance use. Terry Sorenson, president of the Ambulance Association, recommended that the council allow an $18 charge for emergency runs. Previously there had been no charge for the emergency run. He said it required more equipment, faster response and higher stress for the EMTs. He also suggested that the Pleasant Grove residents be charged a rate of $3 per mile for transportation from where they are picked up to the hospital and $5 per mile for non-residents. Until now there has been no charge to residents and about $3.50 charge per mile for non-residents. The base rate of $80 will remain the same. The city and the Ambulance Association have been setting aside funds to purchase a new ambulance. The chasis of the modular ambulance the city has must he replaced by state law. The raise in fees will help to make it possible to acquire the ambulance when necessary. |
