Show Citizen, Review, Press, Wed., Dec. 21, 1983 - Page 18 Gloria Long Pearce Alexander Brown Gloria Mae Long Pearce, 58, of Pleasant Grove, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1983, at her home of cancer. She was born May 27, 1925 in Los Angeles, Calif., to Dewey and Ora Kone Long. She married Charles Ed-ward Pearce, Dec. 16, 1959, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was aclive in the Pleasanl Grove 7th LDS Ward. She had served a New Zealand mission and served in LDS auxiliaries. She spent her childhood days in Los Angeles and attended school there. She graduated from UCLA in medical technology with high honors. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, an honorary academic society. Survivors include her husband of Pleasant Grove; a son and three daughters: Loren Pearce of Vernal; Mrs. Stan (Charlenc) Slott of Alpine; Janene Pearce of Pleasant Grove; Mrs. David (Julene) Humes of Orem; her mother of Provo; six grandchildren; a sister and two brothers: Dewey Long, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Everett (Donna) Johnson of Gardena, Calif.; Gordon Long of Salt Lake City. Services were held Saturday in the Pleasant Grove 7th Ward. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Alexander Brown, 90, died Saturday, December 17, at the home of his son in St. George. Born July 21 1893, in Lehi, the son of John and Juliet Austin Brown. Married Chelta Davis, June 28, 1916, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died November 19, 1972. Married Bessie Grover Stam, Dec. 31, 1972 in Seattle, Wash. She died March 24, 1974. Married Rita Fowler Broadbent, May 31, 1974. Mr. Brown was a former salesman for Utah Woolen Mills. Served an LDS mission to the southern states. District Patriarch at the lime of his death. Survived by his wife and three sons, Dr. Roger A. Brown, Provo; Dr. Shirl A. Brown, St. George; Clyde E. Brown, Lake wood, Wash; 29 grandchildren; 48, n ; two brothers and one sister, Lowell Brown and Mrs. Ruby Taylor, both of Lehi; Eldon Brown, St. George. Funeral service Wed. Dec. 21 in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi where friends may call Tue. 9 p.m. and Wed. prior to service. Burial, Lehi City Cemetery. Mark Pineda Mark Pineda, 16, of American Fork, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1983, in American Fork. He was born May 28, 1967, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Josie Ar-chuleta arfd E. Pineda. He lived in New Mexico until moving to Utah in September 1983. Survivors are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. John Mair, American Fork; a brother, Travis Mair; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Archuleta of Cerro, N.M; and his Grandmother Pineda. Mass of the Christian Burial was held Saturday at St. Peter's Church, American Fork. Burial was in the American Fork cemetery. ALEXANDER BROWN and branch president. Stake. President of the Seattle stake and was a Opal Henderson Sutton ElVera Dansie Wells Opal Sophia Hen-derson Sutton, 75, of American Fork, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 1983, at the home of a daughter in Salt Lake City. She was born Dec. 19, 1907, in Holy Oak, Colo., to Thomas Oscar and Thyrza Hewitt Hen-derson. She married James Marion Sutton, in 1966 and he died Jan. 4, 1983. She was a member of the Church of Jesus of Latter-da- y Saints, Manila Third Ward. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. R.R. (Vickie) Stratford of Salt Lake City; Mrs. D. (Marie) Piper of Florida; Mrs. D. P. (Beth) Weddle of South Dakota; 14 grand children; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and a brother, Eugene Henderson of Canada. She was preceded in death by a son, James H. Sutton. Services were held Dec. 17 at noon in the Manila Third LDS Ward Church, 3986 W. 8800 N., Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the American Fork City Cemetery. ElVera June Dansie Wells, 67, of American Fork, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 1983, at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo following surgery. She was born Oct. 20, 1916 in Lehi to William Heber and Jennie Munns Goates Dansie. Oct. 29, 1945, she married David J. Wells and the marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. She was an active member of the LDS Church, and served as a teacher in every auxiliary organization. She also served as president of the Young Women's Mutual Im-provement Association, was a Sunday School coordinator and secretary, and filled tner callings in "le .hPdren's Primary, m She worked at the Lehi Office of Mountain Bell Telephone Co. while in high school, and was a Remington Arms Co. employee during World War II. After the war, she returned to work at Mountain Bell offices in Lehi, American Fork and Provo. She retired in 1981 after a career with Mountain Bell. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of American and the Provo chapter of Communications Wor-kers of America. Survivors include her husband of American Fork, and son David Floyd Wells in Los Angeles, Calif. Services were held Dec. 19 at the American Fork First Ward LDS Chapel, 38 S. 300 East. Burial was at the Lehi City Cemetery. Vern Lee Dixon EL VERA WELLS the Relief Society and MIA. She was a geneaologist, and completed many volumes of family history containing hundreds of photographs and histories. Vern Lee Dixon, 54, of Lindon, died Friday, Dec. 16, 1983, at Utah Valley Hospital. He was born April 8, 1929, in Provo, to Vernon Lee and Loleta Wiscombe Dixon. He married Margaret Anne Simpson, Sept. 20, 1946, in Provo. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, Lindon Fifth Ward. He attended schools in Provo. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a brick contractor and later a mink rancher. Survivors include his wife of Lindon; four daughters: Mrs. Tom (LeAnn) Rowley and Mrs. Jerry (Shir line) Mitchell, both of Provo; Mrs. Tom (Pauline) Wilder of Byron, Wyo. ; Mrs. Don (Suzann) Pulsipher of Springville; 13 grand-children; a brother and a sister: Mrs. Harold (Lois) McEwan of Pleasant Grove; Carl Dixon of Orem. Services were held Dec. 19. Services were under the direction of Bishop Garth Gillman of the Lindon Fifth Ward. Pallbearers were Lynn Thornton, Hal Thorn-ton, Benny McClure, Carl Dixon, Harold McEwan and Kenneth Adams.
