Show - iCsO Review - Wednesday, December 21, 1983 - Par 11 Jr. Varsity r basketball At Wasatch, the junior varsity fell behind early to a hot shooting Wasatch team and spent the remainder of the game trying to catch up. Using a full court press, Coach Alan Bahrs' squad struggled back from being 13 points behind after the first period to tie the score in the final four minutes of the game. Wasatch went on to edge the Vikes 55-5- Saturday, everybody got to play against an outmaned North Sanpete team. Of the 17 Vikes who saw playing time, 13 scored points. Brett Zabel was the leader with 23 while Scott Mosher put in 16 and Paul Bronson scored 10. The Viking junior varsity crushed North Sanpete 84-4- LADY VIKIINtiS --Back: Coach John Kurtz. Teams that came this year were American Fork, Lehi Basketball leagues formed for 9th thru 12th grades The Pleasant Grove City jjcreation Department will be sponsoring two additional basketball programs for boys which will involve boys from the 9th through 12th grades. The 9th Grade program will be under the sponsorship of the YBA as it has the past two years. Boys will be asked to register at the Pleasant Grove Recreation Office or at tryouts Saturday, December 24, at 9 a.m. in the Recreation Center. Every boy who trys out will be assigned to a team. League p'ay will again be on a cooperative basis with teams from American Fork and Pleasant Grove There participating. will again be a year-en- tournament on a county level in which each team is invited to enter. Registration for this program will be $18.00 for residents of Pleasant Grove and $20 for non-residents. This will include the YBA Basketball Shirt and literature. The 10th through 12th Grade program will be on a Tri-Cit- y basis with teams entered in league play. Teams from Pleasant Grove, American Fork and Lehi will be in the league. Boys interested in this program may organize their own team and enter as a team, or they may register and be assigned to a team. Tryouts and organization of teams will take place Saturday, Dec. 24 at 10 a.m. in the Recreation Center. Information for both programs will be available through the schools. Cost of the Sr. High Tri-cit- y League will be $18 for residents of Pleasant Grove and $20 for non residents. Those persons who are interested in coaching one of the teams, or entering their own team should contact Bill Hoglund at the Recreation Office. League play will commence on January 7th, with a county wide Senior High School Tournament. The only requirement for the Senior High School teams, is that a boy be currently enrolled in school at Pleasant Grove High School.
